Starting soon, there has to be a thread topic for 2016 I'm actually surprised there isn't one

So happy this is back! Happy with the result of week one too.
Very much liking Candice, shame her sponge was awful in the last challenge.

The best show on British TV is back. Blood, cakes, & tears. Drizzle cakes, Jaffa cakes and a genoise sponge (yum yum). A brilliant introductory show last night watched by an average of 10.4 million viewers (up 1.1 million on the equivalent show last year). I loved how Benjamina quickly whipped up and saved the day spectacularly with her second genoise sponge, after her first was a (in Craig Revel Horwood voice) D Saster. But I thought Selasi was robbed of the star baker prize. Clearly his final bake tasted far worse than it looked. God forbid what it will be like when ITV get their grubby little hands on this show. PS. Candice is my favourite contestant as well (To those who who have not watched: think Victoria Beckham had she not auditioned for the Spice Girls).

The general consensus seems to be that Selasi should have been star baker. Clearly people think highly of Selasi.

What about that lipstick though, surely that should have had it's own show?

Best line from the show was this 'Where did you get the orange juice from??!!' '...the orange' I literally cracked up ====== Anyhow my favourite has to be Candice. And my mum knows Jane what a small world, as she comes from Beckenham Town, Kent. And do Jaffa Cakes come that big I usually down them in one go, the upside down Jaffa Cakes was hilarious.

It wasn't very difficult to decide who should go this week! Where was Sue?

It wasn't very difficult to decide who should go this week! Where was Sue? I think she missed it due to a bereavement.

She was too busy dunking biscuits to show up.

Finally caught up, having missed the first few episodes. Selasi and Candice are my favourites (sounds like they're everyone else's too ) but I like Tom a bit more for doing a Norse mythology bread! Felt so bad for Louise last week - it was supposed to be her gingerbread wedding too

Candice saying she was going to go was annoying, keep it to yourself, it's not all about you!

I felt sorry for her though. Paul really laid into her showstopper, he said literally everything about the top part was bad!

Surprised Val is still in there - I love her but she keeps getting lucky - "move a little, lose a lot"!
Doesn't seem to be any stand out bakers, so this is going to make it interesting...

The BBC has lost the contract to broadcast The Great British Bake Off, the makers of the hit show have confirmed.
Love Productions said negotiations with the BBC had been taking place for a year, with a last-ditch meeting on Monday.
A spokesman added the issues were both money and the development of the brand.
The BBC said it hoped Love Productions would "change their mind so that Bake Off can stay ad-free on BBC One".
The opening show of the current series, the seventh, was watched by an average of 10.4 million viewers.
Bake Off was 2015's most-watched programme, with 15.1 million viewers for the final, according to consolidated figures which include catch-up viewing. It got an average audience of 13.4m people watching on the night it was broadcast.
The show, currently airing on BBC One on Wednesday evenings, is hosted by Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, with Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry as the judges.
Love Productions said in a statement: "After an extraordinary six-year journey with the BBC, Love Productions announces with regret that it has been unable to reach agreement on terms to renew the commission of The Great British Bake Off.
"We will now be focusing on finding a new partner to develop the familiar show that the British public turn to in their millions.
"Love Productions would like to thank the BBC for the role it played in making this show such an enormous hit, and the faith they showed in us over the years to develop it."
Love Productions said the BBC had revised its offer to them ahead of Monday but it was rejected.
Asked if the decision could be reversed, they said it could not.
It has not yet been decided to which company the show, which sees amateur bakers compete against each other in a series of challenges, will move.
The BBC said: "Working with Love Productions, we have grown and nurtured the programme over seven series and created the huge hit it is today.
"We made a very strong offer to keep the show but we are a considerable distance apart on the money. The BBC's resources are not infinite.
"GBBO is a quintessentially BBC programme. We hope Love Productions change their mind so that Bake Off can stay ad-free on BBC One."
Love Productions told staff in an email that the decision had been made "with deep regret", the Daily Telegraph reported.
It stated that the email read: "We are really saddened by this outcome because we always wanted to stay on the BBC. As recently as June we were convinced that was what would happen.
"This has never been about who might write the biggest cheque, but about where we can find the best home for Bake Off.
"Unfortunately we were unable to agree either a fair valuation, and nor were the BBC able to provide the necessary comfort for the future protection of such a distinctive and much-loved television series."
The show has won a total of nine Bafta awards, with four of them being won through a public vote.
Earlier this year it won at the National Television Awards in the category for Challenge Show, beating Bear Grylls: Mission Survive, Masterchef and The Apprentice.
It was announced in July that the show will get two Christmas specials later this year, with four bakers from previous series doing three seasonal challenges, replacing the Bake Off Masterclass programmes

Well done Love Productions. You have just signed the death warrant for your most popular programme.

Apparently it is going to Channel Four, so there may still be hope for it. Even so, it means each show will now be about 40-45 minutes long unless Ch4 give it a longer time slot.
