2009
My # 1 :
Sharon Corr - Me & My Teddy Bear (1st week at # 1)
UK # 1 :
Rage Against the Machine - Killing In The Name
Worst UK # 1 ever and the most shameful page in all long history of UK charts.
Why they choose this godawful random track for anti-X-Factor campaign ?
Not any Christmas # 2 classic (Mariah, Pogues & Kirsty, Wham, Greg Lake).
Not any actual current single like Lady Gaga.
Not even my # 1.
In my chart ex-Corrs' member Sharon Corr got her solo # 1 with "Me & My Teddy Bear" (UK # 27, charity single for "Children In Need")
Christmas Top 2 : 1. Sharon Corr - Me & My Teddy Bear 2. Little Boots - Earthquake

(Band Aid 20) 2005 : "See The Day" vs "That's My Goal" 2006 : "I Think We're Alone Now" vs "A Moment Like This" 2007 : "Too Much Christmas" vs "When You Believe" 2008 : "My Only Wish (This Year)" vs "Hallelujah" 2009 : "Me & My Teddy Bear" vs "Killing In The Name"

2006My # 1 : Girls Aloud - I Think We're Alone Now (1st week at # 1)The cover version of Tiffany's single "I Think We're Alone Now" became the second consecutive Christmas # 1 for Girls Aloud. Please get it right. A cover of Tommy James & The Shondelles single. That song is also on my current 1967 playlist. It isn't the best song on it though.

Christmas 2009 is the only "disputed" of my Christmas #1s as I had a new one on the chart dated 26 December. You'll be able to find those charts hereDaisy Wheeller had a hit that peaked at #3 then fell as far as #6 before leaping back up to #2 the week after Christmas. There were some awful songs actually in that Christmas chart, in particular Shooting Stars - My Christmas Card For You or whatever it was called. Elliot Minor's hit with YCB was #2 and it was a bit of fun but not that good. It reminds me though of launching Get Real Music Back Into The Charts on 23rd December that year.

In 21 December post I said the Wurzels had never charted previously. Now they have charted previously, as "Drink Up Thy Zider" is in my 1967 chart... When I get to 1976 they may chart with "Combine Harvester" too. Of course they also charted subsequently getting to #3 in 2014 with "The Mendip Wind Farm Song".

That is very true, although I suspect Girls Aloud had never heard of the original version when they recorded theirs.

I met one of Girls Aloud just over a year ago - I think Nadine. If I ever meet her again I will ask her.
UB40 didn't know when they recorded Red Red Wine that it was a Neil Diamond song. They thought Tony Tribe had written it, and it was only when it came to the having to put in the songwriting credits that they found out.

2010
My # 1 :
Amy Macdonald - Your Time Will Come (2nd week at # 1)
UK # 1 :
Matt Cardle - When We Collide
There is some gaps in my weekly charts, so I don't know the correct number of her # 1s. "Your Time Will Come" wasn't represented in UK chart, but became 10th single for Scottish wonder Amy Macdonald and minimum her 8th number one (after "Poison Prince", ""Mr Rock & Roll", "This Is The Life", "L.A", "Run", "Don't Tell Me That It's Over", "This Pretty Face")
