01/12/2017 Graham Coxon - Falling
Blur’s guitarist has recorded a new single to benefit a charity dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. The song was written by Luke Daniel, who took his own life last year, and part of the proceeds will go to support the Campaign Against Living Miserably, otherwise known as CALM.

06/12/2017 Sufjan Stevens - Tonya Harding
(Apologies but this quote is far too good not to steal wholesale) "This song is so beautiful and peaceful, yet after listening I have the urge to go bust someone's kneecap".
This is NOT from the Greatest Gift Mixtape/outtakes album released November 24th, but is the first track from a brand new 2018 album consisting of 3 to 5 minute long different biographical tracks on the titular person in question.

07/12/2017 Camila Cabello - Never Be the Same
The new single & title track of her January 12th released debut solo album. This (not a cover of that collaboration single by the best members of the Spice Girls & TLC) is released in a few hours and is unquestionably superior to that Ed Sheeran single.

08/12/2017 Manic Street Preachers - International Blue
Now this ladies & gentlemen is why I never compile my year end charts until near the end of the year.
The Welsh indie rock legends have unveiled their new single which bassist and lyricist Nicky Wire described as ‘a sister song to Motorcycle Emptiness’. The lead single is taken from their upcoming 6th April 2018 released 13th studio album ‘Resistance Is Futile‘.

Best thing they have done in a long long time. I have a cut off point of the 14th and anything released after that will have to be in next year's chart

That Manics song really is fantastic. Why couldn't they have released it a few months back so I had an extra song for Haven Factor though?

09/12/2017 Bjork - Utopia
The video of her title track to the Icelandic singer/songwriter's latest album was directed by Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones and features Björk in yet another one of her fantastical worlds, this one populated by flutes and blue birds and soft pink viscera.

10/12/2017 Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds - It's A Beautiful World
This new "single" from his third album pretty much sums up how he must be feeling after the Manchester derby sat between "football legend Graeme Souness and ... Gary Neville" in the Sky Sports studio. Anyone who comes out with the analysis "Before you laugh at kids who believe in Father Christmas, remember, there are adults who actually believe Romelu Lukaku is worth £75m" (after his two assists .... for Manchester City today) is a bit of a legend. Goodness knows why some people prefer his brother....

11/12/2017 Lily Allen ft Giggs - Trigger Bang
Now this is why I don't compile my year end countdowns at the beginning of December #2. The long awaited lead single from the 2018 album The Fourth Wall. Thankfully, this is miles better than anything from Sheezus. 21st century female Ray Davies meets MIA = brilliant.

12/12/2017 Austra - Change The Paradigm
Haven favourites dropped this very new wave electronic sounding track NOT taken from the Canadian group's early 2017 album Future Politics. It appears to be a somewhat oblique critique of the current American political system.

13/12/2017 Moderate Rebels - When the Cost Has No Value
The London indie pop band who sound like a cross between The Velvet Underground & Stereolab second single (they released a 5 track debut EP in June after their October 2016 debut God Sent Us) which has a bit of a buzz at the moment. Not least as its lyrics and apathetic vocal delivery carries a fairly clear, political message, but it strolls quite loosely with flaunted irritated indifference.

Hmm, it's actually pretty decent this year. I've heard worse year mash-ups of his, but nothing comes close to his 2009 one.
One of the all-time great mash-ups.

15/12/2017 The Fizz ft Rick Wakeman - Home For My Heart
This country tinged Christmas themed remade version of The F-Z of Pop album track sees Jay Aston's first lead vocal on a Fizz single in 34 years! It goes without saying it is miles better than that mawkfest single by a ginger haired male singer songwriter.
