25/02/2017 Idles - Mother
The caustic, sarcastic, visceral hard post punk indie rock quintet from Bristol, release their debut album "Brutalism" out March 10th. This left-wing social politically group have been championed by the Manic Street Preachers & John Lydon (PIL). Whilst at last week's BRITs Noel Gallagher was namechecking them as the saviour to British rock music. However, their spats with the UKIP friendly/ Brexit supporting Sleaford Mods (whom former fascist Iggy Pop is their biggest fan); alongside this song dedicated in live concerts to "Theresa Mayhem" will guarantee it wont get playlisted by any BBC radio stations..
"The best way to scare a Tory is to read and get rich ..... I know nothing I just sit here looking at pretty colours ..."

26/02/2017 Loreen - Statements
The 2013 European Song Contest winner returned after 4 years to compete in Melodifestivalen 2017 with this stunning composition co-written with Sia Furler from her forthcoming album Paperlight. Despite (or perhaps because it is too good for its own good) having choreography by Ryan Heffington (all those recent Sia videos, Arcade Fire; Florence + The Machine; Years & Years) this 1/5 odds on favourite to qualify from Heat 4/4 finished 3rd (to a stunned arena audience & Swedish public); so has to go into the Andra Chansen (Last Chance qualifier) next Saturday. Right now this song is #1 on Sweden's iTunes chart by a long way ahead of Ed Sheeran whilst the two songs which qualified ahead of it are at #5 & #6 .... Shades of that Father Ted Song for Europe episode.

27/02/2017 Bruce Woolley & Polly Scattergood with The Radio Science Orchestra - Video Killed the Radio Star
The songwriter who has co-written hits for Tina Charles; Buggles; Dusty Springfield; Dollar; Seal; Grace Jones; Cher; Cliff Richard; etc returns to one of his famous co-write of the Buggles classic. So bringing in the ethereal, dark, intense and quirky 30 year old Essex born singer songwriter to supply the vocals on this "I can't believe it's not Alison Goldfrapp doing the finale of a HBO TV series type track with its cinematic slowed down, dramatic feel.

28/02/2017 The Dandy Warhols - Thick Girls Knock Me Out (Richard Starkey)
Last year, the longtime Portland drug-rock greats returned from a four-year absence with the album Distortland. Today, they’ve got a brand-new single and a video to go along with it. It is named, in part, after Ringo Starr’s birth name and is a playfully sleazy Pixies going glam-rock about Beatles and being horny.

01/03/2017 Ariel Pink & Weyes Blood - Tears On Fire
Last month, The Los Angeles multi-instrumentalist and longtime collaborator Weyes Blood teamed up for a full collaborative EP called Myths 002. Now comes the rather odd video for the EP track “ which seems to feature Pink as a knight and Weyes Blood as a witch who wails in front of a bonfire on this progressive folk meets gothic soft metal track.

08/03/2017 First Aid Kit - You are the Problem Here
This out of character angry Neil Young meets Sinead O'Connor type track by the Swedish folk duo was written after reading about yet another rape case where the perpetrator was handed a sentence which did not at all reflect the severity of his crime. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Women for Women International of this single released on Friday 10th March.

10/03/2017 Charli XCX ft. Uffie - Babygirl
(Well my first two choices of new releases are not yet on youtube so ...) The imminent single taken from the new 10 track album Number 1 Angel is a pop confection which sounds like Gwen Stefani with 1980s Prince.

12/03/2017 Aimee Mann - Patient Zero
In an alternative universe the former Til Tuesday lead singer would be regarded as one of the greatest female singer songwriters of all time. This melancholic track taken from her 9th solo album Mental Illness out 31st March. The video clip, directed by Daniel Ralston, stars actors James Urbaniak and Bradley Whitford in a bittersweet plot set in and around a fictional theatrical production called "The Hermit." Mann appears in a brief cameo, alongside comedian Tim Heidecker, Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner and actor Rich Sommer.

Already Donald Trump as tweated about, it appears he and his "snowflake" alt-right supporters are offended by it.
