This is a temporary chart subject to correction by Alex (come back soon Alex!) as there may be adding up corrections needed (though I hope not) or carry-over charts to add-in (not sure on the rules for that) plus the "last week" figures which I'll leave to Alex as he'll have the master records internet permitting. So anyway, till then there's this combined chart, and nothing else (my chart will give an indication of new entries in the UK and USA charts but they are online now anyway). Post away!

^ Well done for doing this, I have stinking manflu / a heavy cold at the moment, so I was hopeful someone else would pick this up ... because if I felt better I would have looked to have compiled this in his absence.

Oh, that's probably the difference then, smokeyb probably carried charts over. So Cat Stevens might be #1 as they are on his chart, but we can use this topic to post our new ones?
Mine is just a copy-paste job but I have to remember which one to copy-paste in.

Two charts covering the same week, giving us two different number ones. It's like 1967 all over again.

I'm posting this in both 1967 threads to demonstrate how grateful I am to you both for picking this up...
1 [1] :: Rolling Stones - RUBY TUESDAY 2 [2] :: Monkees - LAST TRAIN TO CLARKSVILLE 3 [4] :: Marvin Gaye & Kim Weston - IT TAKES TWO 4 [3] :: Four Tops - STANDING IN THE SHADOWS OF LOVE 5 [13] :: Otis Redding - TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS 6 [11] :: Jimi Hendrix - HEY JOE 7 [9] :: Sonny and Cher - THE BEAT GOES ON 8 [5] :: Monkees - I'M A BELIEVER 9 [6] :: Rolling Stones - LET'S SPEND THE NIGHT TOGETHER 10 [8] :: Dusty Springfield - THE LOOK OF LOVE 11 [12] :: Cream - I FEEL FREE 12 [18] :: Engelbert Humperdinck - RELEASE ME 13 [10] :: Eddie Floyd - KNOCK ON WOOD 14 [14] :: Rolling Stones - YESTERDAY'S PAPERS 15 [7] :: Wilson Pickett - EVERYBODY NEEDS SOMEBODY TO LOVE 16 [new] :: Mar-Keys - LAST NIGHT 17 [new] :: Donovan - MELLOW YELLOW 18 [16] :: Monkees - (I'M NOT YOUR) STEPPIN' STONE 19 [15] :: Percy Sledge - IT TEARS ME UP 20 [new] :: Jimmy Ruffin - I'VE PASSED THIS WAY BEFORE
Three new entries this week:-
Mar-Keys - LAST NIGHT :: The Mar-Keys were the Stax house band. This track was recorded and originally released in 1961, when it reached #3 on the US charts. For some reason it was reactivated in the UK in February 1967, and it bubbled under the Record Retailer chart for a week. Unusually, Steve Cropper plays keyboards (not guitar) on this recording. (Cropper wrote "Knock On Wood", at #13 on my chart this week, In The Midnight Hour, Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay, and most of Booker T & MGs hits). Fans of Ade Edmondson and Rik Mayall will recognise the tune as it is used on the closing credits of "Bottom".
Donovan - MELLOW YELLOW :: Depending on which story you believe, this song is either about smoking dried bananas (which could give you a high according to contemporary rumours), or about sex toys. British broadcasters either didn't know or didn't care, because the record received plenty of airplay and didn't get banned.
Jimmy Ruffin - I'VE PASSED THIS WAY BEFORE :: Ruffin's second UK hit was authored by one of Motown's second string writing partnerships - Dean & Weatherspoon. They had penned his debut hit, "What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted", but don't have any other UK Top 10 hits to their name.

Donovan's "Mellow Yellow" will suffer here from the fact I charted it in 1966. And it got to #1 in my chart in December, between the Beach Boys (Good Vibrations) and Frank Sinatra (That's Life).
