HAVEN COMBI RETRO CHART W/B 10th FEBRUARY 1985

A third week at the top for A New England as Kirsty MacColl equals the previous longest run at number one for a female artist on the Retro-Chart. Self Control topped the chart for three weeks back in July/August last year, and ended up as our third biggest song of 1984, so Kirsty MacColl still has a way to go to equal Laura Branigan’s achievement. Reporting a slight dip this week, Kirsty MacColl is still ahead by 38 points and looking in good shape for a fourth week at the top of the chart.




A big contender for next week’s number one comes from The Smiths who move up 11 places to number 2. This is the same position they were at this time last year with What Difference Does It Make. Will How Soon Is Now go one better and give them their second number one single?

Don Henley’s The Boys Of Summer moves up to number 3 on its sixth week on the chart. This is a relative newcomer to the chart in comparison with Dead Or Alive who jump back up to number 4 with You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) to achieve a new peak.

This week’s highest new entry is from Kool and The Gang with Misled, in at number 27.

I love Innocent, one of my favourite Alexander O'Neal songs. I didn't hear it until his Greatest Hits collection some years later though.  Thanks for the info, I'm going to chart this next week too.  Looks like it just missed out on the Billboard chart.
