Darlo need to get that rugby ground upgraded then! And wow at Coventry, only once before, assumed we hadn't played them much, wonder what our record is against them, if they get themselves sorted, then they'll do well next season, if not, they could keep falling, instability behind the scenes is never good, look at Leyton Orient!

Poole Town (currently 5th in Conference South) have bben told they will not be allowed to participate in the play-offs. If that decision is upheld on appeal, Dartford and Chelmsford are already in the play-offs. As have Darlington in the Conference North. You can add Hungerford as well, for the same reason as the other two.

Easter Monday: 17 April
Championship (4 left) Brighton (12 ahead - Huddersfield have a game in hand) will be promoted if they better Huddersfield's result (although equalling it will probably be enough due to the +31 goal difference advantage)
League One (3 left) Bolton (4 ahead) will be promoted if they win on Tuesday, provided Fleetwood and Bradford both lose and Scunthorpe fail to win. Chesterfield (9 points & 17 goals behind) will be relegated unless they win and Port Vale and Swindon both fail to win. Even if all that comes to pass, they'll still be relegated on Tuesday if Bury avoid defeat at Bolton.
League Two (4 left) Plymouth (12 ahead) will be promoted unless they lose at home to struggling Newport and Luton win at Mansfield. Portsmouth (8 ahead) will also be promoted if they win and Luton don't. Leyton Orient (10 behind) will be relegated unless they win at home to 22nd-placed Hartlepool.
National League (3 left) Lincoln (5 ahead) will be promoted if they win and Tranmere don't. Forest Green (7 behind) will have their play-off spot confirmed unless they better Lincoln's result. Dag & Red (6 ahead of 6th) will be in the play-offs if they better Aldershot's result. North Ferriby (9 points & 26 goals behind) will be mathematically relegated unless they win and two of York, Woking, Solihull and Braintree* lose. Torquay (4 pts) will go down if they lose and three of Guiseley, York, Woking and Solihull win.
* - although not only York and Woking, since they play each other next week.
National League North (3 left) Flyde (6 ahead) will be promoted if they better Kidderminster's result. But Kidderminster are at Altrincham, so... Kidderminster (6 behind, 7 ahead) will definitely be in the play-offs, if an unlikely string of results come to pass, including them drawing.
National League South (3 left) Maidenhead (5 ahead) will be promoted if they win and Ebbsfleet don't. Chelmsford and Dartford can make their play-off places safe even from a pair of ground grading appeals if they better Hungerford's result. Dartford are playing Hampton & Richmond, who are two places outside the play-offs, but could still confirm their play-off place (assuming those appeals fail) if they win and Wealdstone lose to basement-dwelling Bishop's Stortford.

Easter Monday: 17 AprilChampionship (4 left) Brighton (12 ahead - Huddersfield have a game in hand) will be promoted if they better Huddersfield's result (although equalling it will probably be enough due to the +31 goal difference advantage) Putting this in big... Brighton are promoted to the Premier League! It'll be their first ever Premier League season, making them the 48th different Premier League team and the first from Sussex. Their last top-flight season was 1982-83. Twenty years ago to the day, they were half an hour from dropping out of the football league altogether. Bolton will have to wait, after wins for Fleetwood and Scunthorpe. Chesterfield are relegated after three seasons in League One. Plymouth and Portsmouth are both promoted, Plymouth sealing it in style with a thumping win. Another stay of execution for Leyton Orient, who have closed the gap to seven points. Lincoln's last minute comeback means they're two points from promotion, and also confirms that Forest Green will be in the play-offs. Dag & Red lost a bit of ground with a draw. North Ferriby are relegated after yet another defeat, but the great escape is on for Torquay - they won and are now just one point from safety. Fylde could only draw, while Kidderminster won, so this battle rolls on. Maidenhead and Ebbsfleet both won, so the gap remains at 5 points. Chelmsford and Dartford will certainly play each other in the play-offs, as they are now 7 points ahead of 5th and 12 behind 2nd.

Charlton are safe. Not that that is anything really to celebrate. We shouldn't be fighting for survival in League One.

Fri 21 - Mon 23 April (2 games left)
ENGLAND Championship (3 left) Brighton (7 ahead) will be confirmed as Champions if they win at Norwich on Friday, or if Newcastle (Mon) fail to better their result. If Reading drop points and Huddersfield lose on Saturday, that opens the door for Newcastle to be promoted with a win on Monday. Reading (6 behind, 6 ahead) will be confirmed as in the play-offs if they draw, either Fulham or Leeds lose, and Newcastle win. Wigan (5 behind) will go down if they lose and either Nottm Forest or Blackburn win; or if they draw and two of: Blackburn win, Forest win, Birmingham (Sun) avoid defeat.
League One Bolton will be promoted if they win and Fleetwood don't. This would also confirm Scunthorpe's place in the play-offs, Bradford will definitely be in the play-offs unless either (a) they win and bolton don't, or (b) they lose and both Millwall and Southend win. Millwall will confirm their play-off place if they win and Southend lose. Swindon will go down if they lose and either Port Vale win or Bury avoid defeat; or if they draw, Bury win and Shrewsbury avoid defeat.
League Two (3 left) Luton will be in the play-offs if they win and... several results below them go their way. 13th-placed Wycombe can still catch Luton, even if Luton win! Leyton Orient will be relegated unless either (a) they win and Hartlepool don't, or (b) they draw, Hartlepool lose and Newport don't win.
National League Lincoln will be promoted unless they don't win and Tranmere do. Dag & Red will be in the play-offs if they match or better Aldershot's result. Torquay will be relegated if they lose and two of Guiseley, York and Braintree win.
National League North AFC Fylde will be promoted if they match Kidderminster's result. Halifax will be in the play-offs (pending Darlington's appeal) unless they don't win and Stockport do. Chorley and Salford can also seal their play-off places (assuming Darlington's appeal fails) this weekend. Stalybridge will be relegated if either Worcester or Gainsborough get better results against high-flying teams.
National League South Maidenhead will be promoted if they avoid defeat at home to 2nd-placed Ebbsfleet - I'll be going to that match! Hampton & Richmond will be in the play-offs (pending 2 appeals) if they win and Wealdstone lose. Gosport Borough will be relegated if they don't win and both Whitehawk and Truro do.
Scottish permutations to follow later...

Saturday 22 April
SCOTLAND (3 games left)
Championship Morton will claim the final play-off place unless they don't win and Dunfermline or Queen of the South do.
League One Stenhousemuir will be relegated if they lose at Peterhead.
League Two Annan will be in the play-offs if they win, either Forfar or Arbroath win, and Montrose lose.

Fri 21 - Mon 23 April(2 games left) ENGLAND Championship (3 left) Reading (6 behind, 6 ahead) will be confirmed as in the play-offs if they draw, either Fulham or Leeds lose, and Newcastle win. Just to add to this, a win would also guarantee a place as Sheffield Wednesday play Fulham on the final day and obviously both clubs can't win that match. Not that i'd expect you to be aware of permutations like that unless your team is involved in the play-off race though. Tbh, I wouldn't have looked that far ahead but it's a match that seems to have been mentioned a fair bit by our fans!

Thanks - as you say, a win would have guaranteed at least a play-off place for that reason, but I discounted that as a win would also still have left you with a chance of automatic promotion. That chance looks to be gone now...

At the other end, Wigan drew and must now win both of their remaining games to have any chance of staying up. The promotion battle between Bolton and Fleetwood goes to the final day, but Scunthorpe & Bradford are assured of their play-off places. Millwall remain sixth despite losing; they will be in a three-way battle for the last play-off spot next weekend. Swindon are relegated. Luton are virtually in the play-offs (6 points and 17 goals ahead of Mansfield), but I'm not writing their name in blue yet. Wycombe won, incidentally, and can also still catch Luton. Leyton Orient are relegated. Lincoln are promoted, returning to the football league after a six-year absence. This means that Tranmere will be in the play-offs. Dag & Red have confirmed their play-off place. Torquay are no longer even in the relegation zone, after results went their way. AFC Fylde are promoted, while Kidderminster & Halifax will be in the play-offs. Chorley and Salford must wait. Stalybridge have been relegated. Maidenhead 1-2 Ebbsfleet - so this battle goes to the final day. The crowd of 3377 was over 1500 more than they got when entertaining Port Vale in an FA Cup replay last season! Hampton & Richmond await appeals and the last weekend to see if they can make the play-offs, while Gosport are relegated.

other teams losing mean that Newcastle can confirm promotion with a win tomorrow. Newcastle are promoted! Meanwhile, games in hand being played this week... Tue 25 AprChampionshipHuddersfield will confirm their play-off place if they win at Wolves tonight. League OnePort Vale will be relegated if they lose at Walsall. National LeagueAldershot will complete the play-off line-up without playing if Dover lose at home to Macclesfield. Lincoln (already champions) can reach the 100-point mark tonight, too.

Huddersfield did win at Wolves but Port Vale have a stay of execution by winning at Walsall.
Port Vale's last game is away at Fleetwood so certainly a challenge to stay up. If they do win though Gillingham are away at Northampton and will need to win, and Bury are away at Southend but their goal difference is superior so they will only need a draw.
A draw for Port Vale won't be enough unless Gillingham lose by 6 goals.

I think the 1st leg of the Scottish playoff to get in the league is this weekend, highland v lowland = Buckie Thistle v East Kilbride. East Kilbride currently play on a training ground, ie 3g pitch, which has a capacity of just 600...

Whilst a win would have guaranteed a playoff place I did think a point would have been enough against Forest. But that was because of Fulham's tough trip to Huddersfield - I hadn't even considered it would be because of Leeds losing at Burton! (even though I wasn't convinced at all they would win that match).
Wow at that Maidenhead attendance! I seem to remember they got about 2000 for another FA Cup tie, against Stafford Rangers IIRC, about 10 years ago. I can't believe they've ever got a higher attendance than that. It's probably my fault they lost, I was absolutely convinced they were going to do it on Saturday, especially when they were ahead at HT, so much so that I was already thinking about what I was going to say when it was confirmed...
