HAVEN COMBI RETRO-CHART HALF YEAR UPDATE 1985
As we're now six months into 1985, here's a very quick update on the songs and artists that have made our year so far.
My time's quite limited at the moment, but I've crunched the numbers on my spreadsheet and it all looks about right. That's about the best I can hope for at this stage, particularly as my spreadsheet that I use to calculate all this now holds so much data it's rapidly becoming unfit for purpose! Anyway, let me know if there are any glaring errors or omissions, here goes.....

So Dead Or Alive are leading the race for our biggest song of 1985 so far, having topped five individual charts.
The biggest song of 1984 was Together In Electric Dreams, with 1182 points. It's tally now stands at 1192 points, however Dead Or Alive picked up 368 points last year, having a chart run that crossed two years, so it's cumulative total is a whopping 1519 points, so it's the biggest song of 1984/1985 by a huge margin. I'll have to extend my data at some point to go back to 1982/83 when we started doing this and see if You Spin Me has any challengers for the ultimate Retro Chart song.....

Thanks for doing this, it is really interesting. Like 1984, 1985 is an epic year and I'd be hard pressed to pick my top 10. Surprised none of the Prince tracks made the top 40 though.
Good to see Kirsty MacColl at #3. It's a shame her follow-up, He's On The Beach, which I'm currently charting, flopped so badly.
