How do they work out the 10 most popular songs as listed at the top of an artist's page? I just wondered as the streaming figures next to them don't tally with them being the most popular.
Sorry if I sound thick, but I'm new to all of this streaming lark. I must say I do like Spotify so far, but am finding it incredibly slow to load each time... and sometimes will freeze when searching for an artist or song and take ages to find it. Does anybody else have this problem?

It has a trending element it's not just the absolute most popular but I don't know if it's last 3 months or whatever

It is often noticed that the artist's recent song is there, even if they are a major artist with a big back catalogue of big hits and a new song that most people haven't heard of.

it's something they've changed recently, guess to favor new songs, so it used to be the historical top 10, now it's like the current top 10, so the most popular songs right now but they provide the historical figures for the songs...
but for me it's really fast, no problems loading or searching or anything

As for your speed have you added your MP3 folder if it's over 10000 tracks it will effect things mine is about 50000. It's best to not close and reopen the desktop version unless you really must as it will recataligue your mp3s every time

Yeah, my mp3 files collection is probably close to 40,000... Even when I leave it open though it will take ages if I haven't been on there for a few hours.

That's the problem then , I run of a ssd drive and have a pretty quick pc so it only freezes if I go into local files folder , but I can tell it's doing it it usually stops after about 2 hours
