2000. Evil Cowards – Soldiers Of Satan www.youtube.com/watch?v=WseGXyKNQC8First up we have an electronic dance-rock band created by Tyler Spencer of Electric Six, and William Bates of Fall On Your Sword. Your probably right in thinking who? but the band released their debut album entitled Covered in Gas in 2009. Other songs from that album Love Pigs and Nora & Zora just missed out on my top 2000

1999. Larrikin Love – Happy As Annie www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ap0yCHiaC8
Larrikin Love were an indie folk pop band that formed in 2005 but split up in 2007 shortly before the Europan release of their debut album, they experimented with many different styles of music including punk, reggae, calypso, and bluegrass, and tend to add something of an Irish folk flavour to the typical indie rock sound. Other songs like Edwould and Downing Street Kindling just miss out on my top 2000, after Larrikin Love split up, Micko Larkin joined Courtney Love solo band and played on the subsequent Hole album but now he plays guitar and backing vocals in Darlia

1998. Neon Plastix – On Fire www.youtube.com/watch?v=C81zAPm0wv4New Wave, Electro, Synth-pop band Neon Plastix from Doncaster released a double a-side Dream/On Fire in 2006, I cant remember much about them other than I liked this one song but by the time they released their debut album in 2010 mostly including the same songs from their 2006 ep I had lost interest but this remains a great song

1997. My Red Cell – Me Look You Look www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EBad2xIsDcOne Earl Purple might be interested in because before Russell Toomey formed Denim Snakes, who had a number #1 hit in Earl Purple weekly chart? he was in My Red Cell where they released one album called 13 In My 31, it was jam packed with pop punk riffs and hard hitting but catchy guitar work, they have 2 songs in my countdown but the ones that missed out were unlucky, "you dumb", "whisper the fear" and "bullet" being the pick of the rest of the album

1996. Sugababes – Freak Like Me www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSAGsiVSoeEHere we have the first big hit in my countdown, released in 2002 Freak Like Me went to #1, it is a great little pop song, the backing track uses a sample of the 1979 song "Are Friends" Electric?" by Gary Numan, this was a strong decade for indie but I had to find a place for such a nice pop song and they do feature again with another song a bit higher up

1995. Peter Bjorn And John – Young Folks www.youtube.com/watch?v=iArXv64tCJAYoung Folks is the first single from "Writer's Block", which was the Swedish indie pop bands third album released in 2006. The single features Victoria Bergsman as a guest vocalist and is notable for being a popular song with whistling (the whistling was originally added in as a placeholder for another instrument). Another decent sized hit reaching #13 in the uk

1994. Harrisons – Dear Constable www.youtube.com/watch?v=p67_EObaupQHarrisons were a four-piece guitar band from Hillsborough in Sheffield, England. They were one of the leading bands in the so-called New Yorkshire scene, along with fellow Sheffielders Arctic Monkeys, Milburn, The Long Blondes and Bromheads Jacket. They are another band that managed one album but split one week before the album was released

1993. Late of the Pier – Bathroom Gurgle www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYuwGGqd0y4The 2000's was a great decade for a indie/electro crossover, this was the first song released from their debut album Fantasy Black Channel was released on 11 August 2008, The album was mostly recorded in frontman Sam Eastgate's bedroom in Castle Donington and will feature quite heavily in my list

1992. The Blood Arm – Stay Put! www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyOBakFZJ9sThe Blood Arm are a five-piece rock and roll band from Los Angeles, California currently residing in Berlin, I'm shocked they are still going but apparently they have been quite prolific, this came out in 2006, such a good year for music. Their music has been likened to "James Brown fronting Talking Heads and singing Fall songs". This was the first track on their album Lie Lover Lie which British newspaper The Guardian awarded the album full marks, describing it as "an alternative dancefloor gem".

So far two songs that were in my top 200, this might take you five years to finish lol especially as you are already devoting each song it’s own post

1991. The Glitterati – Betterman www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG6PozIGtw0The Glitterati were an English hard rock band, originally from Leeds, but primarily based in London. The band released their debut album The Glitterati on 25 April 2005 on Atlantic Records and Betterman was the first track on that album. Before that they had an EP out and were touring with an unknown band called Kasabian maybe a year before there debut album came out along with a more established electropop band called Chikinki, all 3 were playing the same gig in Liverpool so I recommended them all to a one Mr Hupin who was living in Liverpool at the time, I think Kasabian might have even been 3rd on the bill!

1990. Manic Street Preachers – Jackie Collins Existential Question Time www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYvbtSTamRcLike the other tracks on Journal For Plague Lovers, this song originated from some notebooks containing lyrics which their former guitarist Edwards handed to bassist Nicky Wire shortly before disappearing in early 1995. The NME May 16, 2009 asked Wire if the song's chorus 'Oh mummy, what's a Sex Pistol' came from an actual Sex Pistols poster or flyer. He replied: "A lot of people in the '70s wore badges, you see it a lot in photos, that read 'Mummy, what's a Sex Pistol?' on it. It's just a sort of cultural reference point, I don't know if it's any more loaded than that."

1989. Garbage – Sex Is Not The Enemy www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8kaBRfKi1c"Sex Is Not the Enemy" was a single released from Garbage's fourth album Bleed Like Me in June 2005. Following on from the top ten chart position for predecessing single "Why Do You Love Me", and despite the band promoting the single with headline show at London's Brixton Academy, "Sex Is Not the Enemy" failed to replicate that success in the UK, peaking in the top thirty, becoming their last Top 40 hit in there

1988. Jetplane Landing – Why Do They Never Play Les Savy Fav On The Radio?
Why Do They Never Play Les Savy Fav On The Radio? is from Backlash Cop which is the third full-length release from Northern Irish band released in 2007, there is no youtube link but it is on Spotify and is a homage to Tim Harrington from post punk revival band Les Savy Fav
