Two maximum votes in a row has pushed Wolf Alice from mid-table into top position but it's a very slender lead 40 | WOLF ALICE | Moaning Lisa Smile | Andy | 38 | EKKOES | Heaven | Shireblogger | 36 | The BLUETONES | Carry Me Home | Milliways | 35 | CHAIRLIFT | Bruises | raliverpool | 35 | NATHANIEL RATELIFF & NIGHT SWEATS | S.O.B. | Shireblogger | 31 | DAKOTA | Heart And Soul | mic1812 | 28 | DAN AUERBACH | Shine On Me | Andy | 25 | CITY CALM DOWN | Rabbit Run | Big Dan | 24 | EX HEX | Don't Wanna Lose | Thorney | 24 | The YEARNING | Everybody Knows (I'm Still In Love With You) | Earl Purple | 23 | BROKEN BELLS | After The Disco | Shireblogger | 23 | MS MR | Fantasy | Andy | 22 | CHERRY GHOST | Alfred The Great | Shireblogger | 22 | The ACES | Stuck | smokeyb | 21 | CATTLE & CANE | Skies | Earl Purple | 16 | OF VERONA | Kids On The Street | Big Dan | 16 | ROSE ELINOR DOUGALL | Future Vanishes | raliverpool | 15 | FATHERSON | Just Past The Point Of Breaking | greendemon | 15 | CIRCA WAVES | Young Chasers | Andy | 12 | VRYLL SOCIETY | Beautiful Faces | suedehead | 6 | SKATERS | Miss Teen Massachussetts | misterhamster | 6 | The MAJORITY SAYS | Silly Ghost | Earl Purple | 5 | The SOUNDS | No-One Sleeps When I'm Awake | Paul | 4 | COIN | Atlas | Shireblogger |

Another big vote for Wolf Alice means that with one vote to go they are now holding a more comfortable lead, although Chairlift has moved to 2nd with only a small deficit to make up 48 | WOLF ALICE | Moaning Lisa Smile | Andy | 45 | CHAIRLIFT | Bruises | raliverpool | 41 | NATHANIEL RATELIFF & NIGHT SWEATS | S.O.B. | Shireblogger | 38 | EKKOES | Heaven | Shireblogger | 36 | The YEARNING | Everybody Knows (I'm Still In Love With You) | Earl Purple | 36 | The BLUETONES | Carry Me Home | Milliways | 31 | DAKOTA | Heart And Soul | mic1812 | 30 | DAN AUERBACH | Shine On Me | Andy | 28 | CITY CALM DOWN | Rabbit Run | Big Dan | 28 | EX HEX | Don't Wanna Lose | Thorney | 23 | ROSE ELINOR DOUGALL | Future Vanishes | raliverpool | 23 | BROKEN BELLS | After The Disco | Shireblogger | 23 | MS MR | Fantasy | Andy | 22 | CHERRY GHOST | Alfred The Great | Shireblogger | 22 | The ACES | Stuck | smokeyb | 21 | OF VERONA | Kids On The Street | Big Dan | 21 | CATTLE & CANE | Skies | Earl Purple | 15 | FATHERSON | Just Past The Point Of Breaking | greendemon | 15 | CIRCA WAVES | Young Chasers | Andy | 12 | VRYLL SOCIETY | Beautiful Faces | suedehead | 7 | The MAJORITY SAYS | Silly Ghost | Earl Purple | 6 | SKATERS | Miss Teen Massachussetts | misterhamster | 5 | The SOUNDS | No-One Sleeps When I'm Awake | Paul | 4 | COIN | Atlas | Shireblogger |

Any of the top 4 would win with a top score, and 12 for the Yearning would make that and Wolf Alice joint winners (and those two were both from HIT12)

Cheers Earl Purple and congrats Shireblogger! The early leader ended up winning, but it was certainly a close-run thing.

Well, that is a very satisfactory outcome. First and last for me, with my favourite two songs (of my entries) being the two highest placed.
Also, great that 4 different participants claimed the top 4 places. And the contest was very tight, with an exciting finale.
One of the pleasant surprises to me was the fact that the contenders span a broad spectrum of musical styles. A little bit of Haven self-congratulation is due, but collectively, we really appreciate good music across the board, from blues to synth pop, via indie rock, folk and rave. That's probably the single most enjoyable aspect of Haven Vision, Haven Hidden Treasures, Haven Factor, and the rest.

So near and yet so far Well done, I shall check my scoring list to see where Ekkoes ended up as I gave it no points, but it was a very good list of songs to vote on. Thanks Earl P.

Thanks for doing this Earl Purple and well done Shireblogger! Ekkoes was never one of my favourites (can't remember how I voted for it in its competition) but I do recall that as soon as I first heard it I knew it would go down well on here. Glad that the second and third-placed songs were two I'd ranked really highly. Can't really complain about Fatherson as even I wouldn't say it was my favourite of all my entrants and in fact I had forgotten that it even made it to the top 3!

It's a voting demography here and if we'd had the full set of the normal voters who knows if the result would have been different. The kind of people that like Wolf Alice are generally a different group to those who like Ekkoes as the voting showed and in the end the Ekkoes voters just pipped it.

Interesting set of results.
Be interesting to see the difference of the scores and positions here to the original score and position they were entered into

And some people like me who is in the rock/metal/Indie rock demographic, the prime Wolf Alice voting category just don't get the hype, every song sounds like a track I would skip even after repeated listens, they just do nothing for me but then I gave Ekkoes 12 points, its odd because take andy for example, his top song is my bottom song and my bottom song is his top song but 3 out of 4 of the rest of our top 5 is exactly the same, its even in the same order! Not sure its as simple as rock v pop fans or certain demographics

Big names will often do well in these contests, and it may be because people have got themselves familiar with that artist's songs by that point.
When we first enter these they are relatively unknown but by the time you get to the Champion of Champions phase some have become big names and those will have an advantage.
I myself benefitted from that in the first CoC for HIT as I had entered Walk The Moon and it went on to win.
