Never heard of Juice Newton. She had 4 top ten singles in United States in 1981-1982 years and a huge discography as country singer, but in UK her biggest international hit "Angel Of The Morning" even didn't reach top 40. Many years after "Angel" was released by reggae artist Shaggy, heavily samples "Angel of the Morning," using the melody, but with different words, for the sung refrain and became # 1 in UK.

Late to this, but I really like Day Trip To Bangor. I'm just about old enough to 'get' the lyrics, and the folk instrumentation and vocal style – I'm a fan. Would have been well inside my top 100 #1s if it had reached that peak.

I was sort of hoping to see Vienna, Tainted Love and Under Pressure there somewhere. Unfortunately I didn't finish my ranking of all UK # 1s of the 80s, but "Under Pressure" got 148th place, "Tainted Love" was at # 141 from 189 songs. fatherandy2.proboards.com/thread/87213/1-singles-uk-ranking-80sI dislike "Vienna" and maybe only one person on this forum, who prefer to have "Shaddap You Face" as # 1 in UK.

(25.04.1982) : Bardo - One Step Further (1 week at # 1)

On the day of the main contest, bookmakers Ladbrokes rated the song as the favourite to win Eurovision at odds of 5–2, but at the end of judging that evening, "One Step Further" finished on the 7th place with 76 points.
In UK singles chart was peaked at # 2, only behind the leader "Ebony And Ivory".

(30.05.1982) : Nicole - A Little Peace (3 weeks at # 1)
UK chart : # 1
"A Little Peace" became the sixth number one for Eurovision winners after "Poupee De Cire, Poupee De Son" (1965), "All Kinds Of Everything" (1970), "Waterloo" (1974), "Save Your Kisses For Me" (1976) and "Making Your Mind Up" (1981), but in this year my favourite Eurovision song was "Sonntag" from Austria. Probably it's the most unpredictable winner from all my ESC rankings.
Bonus : Mess - Sonntag (Austria - Eurovision 1982)
