After the dance-tastic "Off The Wall" and the magnum opus "Thriller", Michael Jacksons' "Bad" totally lived up to its name.
And I suspect no-one has ever thought that Dire Straits' "On Every Street" was even 1% as good as their 3rd, 4th and 5th albums - "Making Movies", "Love Over Gold" and "Brothers In Arms".

And of course there was Pulp's deliberate career self-sabotage of "This Is Hardcore" which followed the splendid kitchen sink dramas "His'N'Hers" and "Different Class".

yes, Bad is Jackos best album and much better than Thriller actually I'd say Dangerous is the MJ album that should be in the disappointing albums list

IMHO Jacko's best album was Off The Wall, and it has been all downhill artistically since then due to his increasing use of mawkish ballads; Messianic lyrical themes; & paranoia in his records. Anyway if an MJ album was to be included then how can anyone overlook this flogging a dead cash cow of an album .....

Back in the time I bought lots of albums, you didn't know what was going to be on them until you bought them. This one has to go down as the most disappointing for me. I was a massive Morrissey fan back in 1995, Vauxhall & I was my favourite of all his solo albums, Your Arsenal had also been a great album and I really felt he was on the way up quality wise. We had the Boxers EP to pass the time and that had 3 good songs on it, and then we got that... The lead single Dagenham Dave was perhaps a good indication of how poor the album was going to be. The Boy Racer is about the only decent song on it.

Five Star's 1987 'Between the lines' was a bit of a disappointment after the excellent first 2 albums. Sadly it was all downhill from there for them.

I think 'Kill Uncle' is by far the worst Morrissey album coming after 'Viva Hate' which carried out The Smiths legacy brilliantly but there was some awful singles between like "Ouija Board, Ouija Board"

Kill Uncle was rather weak. Morrissey described it in his autobiography as making an album for the sake of releasing something. I think if they'd waited a bit, the songs that came out later that year Pregnant For The Last Time and My Love Life were far stronger and could have gone on the album in place of a couple of the weaker ones and it would have been ok.

I'd put Kid A on this list too but I'll get blasted by everyone telling me it's one of Radiohead's best albums if not their best.

Definitely the Stone Roses' "Second Coming". So very, very, very much not worth the long wait. an album I liked almost all of, and has some brilliant moments on it, in particular Ten Storey Love Song and How Do You Sleep.

I tried really hard to get into Radiohead, as I thought I must be missing out on something great... but hard as I tried, I just couldn't do it.

Perhaps my tastes have changed somewhat since the mid-1990s, and I'm not sure if I would now like "Fake Plastic Trees" as much as I did in 1995. However "High And Dry" and "Just" are for me two totally brilliant songs and certainly "The Bends" was one of my favourite albums in the britpop era.

I thought "Creep" was pretty great. And much much later on (say, 15 years after it was released), heard " "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" and was reasonably impressed. But everything else - yes, the appeal of Radiohead passes me by somehow too.

I have some fun going on the Guardian comments whenever Radiohead get a review/mention/article and pointing out they are the most obvious example of the Emperor's New Clothes ever, and then seeing the hipsters get into a mega froth about it.
