Just putting it out there, The Bends is one of my all-time favourite albums. I also love Kid A and Amnesiac.

Just remembered Compton by Dr Dre. 2001, released in 1999, is my all time second favourite rap album. He waited 16 years to bring out another record under his own name, and when he did I wondered why he’d bothered, massive disappointment. The production was outstanding, but unfortunately there was simply no good tunes, not one on the entire album.
2001 has spent 109 weeks on the album chart. Somehow Compton managed 12.

as taylor says, haters gonna hate but personally love radiohead in all their phases, in the very beginning (Creep), the britppop albums (The Bends, ok computer) but what I like the most about them is hw they evolved and re-invented themselves with KID A, one of the best albums in the history of music, period, and how they keep evolving and making great albums 20 years after they started (In rainbows, A moon shaped pool)... when most bands can hardly manage to make 2 good albums in a row

A bit of a random one, but this was a disappointment to me because it came after the phenomenally good 'Hearsay':

I was disappointed by Ash's comeback album Kablammo! I was one of those who pre-ordered a signed copy of it from Pledgemusic and then when it arrived, I thought the first 3 tracks were alright "Cocoon", "Let's Ride" and "Machinery", but then suddenly when it went onto "Moondust" I felt rather glum about it. It briefly picked up on the next two tracks but thereafter it went downhill right to the end. Such a shame and such an almost misleading title. I know there's fans who rate it as their best album since "1977" but even I wouldn't go that far, as much as I liked their A-Z singles too, I have at times felt like they lost some of their edge after Charlotte Hatherley left the band.

I tried really hard to get into Radiohead, as I thought I must be missing out on something great... but hard as I tried, I just couldn't do it. I have some fun going on the Guardian comments whenever Radiohead get a review/mention/article and pointing out they are the most obvious example of the Emperor's New Clothes ever, and then seeing the hipsters get into a mega froth about it. Whilst I personally think the Oxford band are the best British band of the past four decades you are certainly on less thin ice with that opinion than your laughable attempts today defending the "Imperial baffoon" British Antarctic explorer Captain Robert Falcon Scott in the same Guardian comments. As someone who has done a number of management courses; Captain Scott is & remains a fine example in how not to do things (especially when contrasted with his Norwegian rival Amundsen). Although at work we've discussed how Scott's management & organizational skills are still prevalent in British Society today, especially at the moment in "negotiating" our divorce from the EU.... Anyway getting back on topic ... I was a fan of this Norwegian trio, and their first three albums were really good 4 star albums, but the next album was a grim affair, but the warning signs were there with the lead single being an Everly Brothers cover:

Scott had a higher survival rate on his expeditions than did Amundsen. And achieved a lot more for science and global knowledge. Amundsen was a "because it's there" merchant.

For me Ash have always been better at singles than albums, but I'm with you on this. A flat letdown, especially after that title and cover art. "Shutdown" aside, for me every track was forgettable.

I'd put Kid A on this list too but I'll get blasted by everyone telling me it's one of Radiohead's best albums if not their best. As Radiohead haven't released any decent albums, its hard to pick out one which is disappointing. The most over-rated band of all time. See, I would agree with you there, but then we'd both be wrong.

This topic was inspired by bad new album from Taylor Swift. You've already bought it and listened to it, have you ? Or are you just trolling to upset any Taylor Swift fans here ? Talking of upsetting fans of Taylor Swift. HMV manager upset them at the Bullring branch of HMV by playing the latest album instore in full for one of the days last week. It sent twitter into meltdown, made the papers and tv. Absolutely crazy. What a tirade of a Taylor Swift fan. Possessed!

Kelly Clarkson - My December Easily her best album for me. Much as I love Breakaway and All I Ever Wanted, they don't gel in quite the same way as My December does.

The KT Tunstall album was disappointing but it still had the excellent "Hold On" on it

Each to their own of course but of ones mentioned I adore Alanis’s Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie - a brave, clever fascinating record with some great songs. I preferred Radiohead’s Amnesiac to Kid A as it had better tracks - Pyramid Song ( one of the most beautiful life changing tracks ever, I Might Be Wrong, Like Spinning Plates, Life in a Glasshouse.
I’d go for Tori Amos ‘The Beekeeper’ as the most disappointing record ever - before then she could literally do no wrong and it broke my obsession with her too hear her singing bland schmaltzy stuff. She has got somewhat better since. Never been that into Kate Bush’s post comeback work thinking ‘Aerial’ was overrated and a bit twee.

the beekeeper was not THAT bad, problem was it had too many songs including some that might had been just b-sides in the past but the album still has many great songs among the bad ones you could easily pick up 10 songs and make a great album which sure you can't say about the next 2 albums she did after that, American Doll Posse and Abnormally attracted to Sin, these 2 I really think are bad and there are bareky any decent songs on it... agree on KT Tunstall and Kate Nash, amazing debut albums, awful 2nd albums, with barely any great track was also thinking that Lana del Rey - Honeymoon, thats a terrible album that I pretend she never released

I love Lana del Rey's "Honeymoon". I suppose it is more monochrome - although not monotone - than her other albums, but for me it's among the very best of her still relatively short career. It is subtle, certainly. But so atmospheric.

I don't think KT Tunstall's second album is bad at all. There may not be anything as good as 'Other side of the world' but it's still a good listen.
I also love Born This Way... I was far more disappointed with Artpop.... Joanne is a grower though.
