That is based purely on points. I would not have expected to see Cracklin' Rosie above Bridge Over Troubled Water.

I want to compile personal 70s charts in near future, if will have enough enthusiasm.
It's nicely to see Mary Hopkin at # 1 and in top 10 of the year-end chart. I think that you already can name my favourite song from this year, because it's very easy.

The sporting winners of 1970 will go in this post. All-time # 1 female tennis player Australian Margaret Court won all 4 Grand Slam tournaments in this year.

I see I forgot to post the sporting winners of 1970. I have reached the same position in 1975 now.
I usually mention:
football: English league title, FA Cup and League cup. Scottish league title, Scottish cup and Scottish league cup. European cup, Cup-Winners-Cup and Fairs Cup when it was a club competition. World cup or European Championship when there is one, like there was in 1970.
Tennis. Wimbledon men's and women's singles, US Open men's and women's singles.
Baseball: world series
American football: super bowl.
Occasionally I will include other sports, e.g. in 1974 I mentioned boxing because of the "Rumble in the Jungle" match, and I have included snooker a few times too. In 1972 I even went as far as mentioning the world chess championsbips.

I started to rate 70s singles, which were top 10 hits in UK.
Your SOTY "Question" got 3/10 and "Lola" got 4/10.

My chart of the year misses out number 5, I have no idea why. Let me look up what it was:
- Marmalade - Reflections Of My Life which was a crossover from 1969.
