I think looking at everyones bands, would it be fair to say it is dependant on their age? Is anyone into a band that was before their time? I know we had the Beatles by raliverpool but is there anyone else into a group before their time? The doors were done and dusted before I was born and discovered them through Oliver Stone film The Doors when I went to the pictures. My then girlfriend said I went nuts. The music sent me into a frenzy. Still does to this day.

A lot of bands in my time followed the same path or one created it and many tried to follow. Think my love for Oasis was that they grew up with me. I was young on their debut and got hooked and followed them through, even now still follow their own projects away from the band. Its maybe an age thing on my part that I am finding bands from the past more interesting and wanting to find out more about them

I still prefer new music to old though. Was listening to 'The Power' by Snap today on the radio and that is now the equivalent of listening to something like Chuck Berry in 1990 but now it seems like no time at all now.

Well REM released Murmur before I was born and there follow up when I was 1 and there 3rd album when I was 1 and a half, then 4th album when I was 2 and a half then there 5th studio album when I was 3
there peak came in 1992 with there 8th album Automatic for the People when I was 8 so I would say before my time as I never heard of them until the late 90's and between 98-2011 there albums were very average, the stuff I like is before my time

That applies to both Suede and Public Service Broadcasting (among others) for me.

Midnight Oil were on about album 6 when I dascovered them through Beds are burning and the dead heart, so I went back and bought all their old albums on cd, which was great, because they gradually got more and more punkier the further I went back.

I know we had the Beatles by raliverpool but is there anyone else into a group before their time? I never listened to any Pink Floyd at all until I heard ‘Keep Talking’ from the Division Bell in 1994 (tell a lie I heard ‘Another Brick in the Wall part 2’ once or twice but knew nothing else) on Capital FM of all places! Thought it was ok but when I saw ‘High Hopes’ video on TOTP I loved it straight away. At that time I had started uni and there were a lot of Floyd fans and I bought most of their back catalogue in a few months. So certainly wasn’t around for their glory period as ‘High Hopes’ aside ‘The Division Bell’ is one of their weaker albums although better than ‘Momentary Lapse of Reason’! Kate Bush has released a few albums since I’ve been a massive fan but I put her 78-85 period as by far her best.

I didnt even realised they realeased that amount of albums. Beds are burning is probably the only track I know, due to it being a big hit back in the day. I think I shall investigate more..lol.

Although I loved the Altered Images singles as they came out, I hadn't heard their albums, I was not of the right age to appreciate an album, could not afford them anyway (I didn't buy one till 1986 - Lovely by The Primitives - although I had a couple of others bought for me), and I didn't hear their greatest release until a retrospective in 1991. And I didn't discover their greatest recording until I found a bootleg in 2001. Their demo of the MacNeice poem "Prayer Before Birth". Isn't online now.

YVA Ideal girl group. I found them only in 2012, two years after their split.

Hillsong United can crawl back into the church they came from. Most people who like this kind of stuff that actually go to church are most likely 70% to turn out to be hypocrits.
