Yeah I saw that, a day after they signed a guy who played 20 times for Peterborough in league 1 last season, could be a walk in the park for them, but also, just maybe, teams will raise their games against them, like they have done the last two seasons. On a pre season note, Stags beat Derby 3-1 last night, Derby teams had loads of first teamers in, so it is quite impressive, but winning that first game is always important in my book Nice to see a few youth players doing well, and maybe they will now get a chance under Flitcroft. What do you reckon about finishing Mansfield top 7 next season? worth a couple of quid, went for them Leeds top 6, Peterborough top 6, West Ham top 10, 40/1, £3 on £123 back so I will be a part time Mansfield fan and part time Leeds fan next season I'm never confident with the Stags, I thought we could do it under Evans, but even he struggled despite his constant bullying of match officials. I'd hope we can be Top 7, I'm just not sure we will, sorry Daz, and I'd say the same for Leeds, not sure the new manager has even signed any players?

Think he signed a few. Lewis Baker from Chelsea. I can cash out for same amount I put on. You just need to keep the faith championship will be very close this year. Nottingham Forest are 5th favourite for some reason

With the World Cup and Wimbledon and wanting to take a break from club football I'm pretty out of the loop when it comes to Reading. I know more about what's been going on at Maidenhead! Speaking of which, noticed today they signed Dover's 20 goal top scorer Ryan Bird, didn't realise how much football league experience he has and he was born in Slough starting his career at Burnham. It shows their ambition though they have lost players to the Football league. Long term they are aiming for the league which even last season seemed unbelievable. Back to Reading, did notice before the World Cup we'd signed Paul McShane, David Meyler and Andy Yiadom. Yiadom came as zero surprise, we were linked with him at some point in the last year and also he was set to join Clement at Swansea last summer but it fell through. Had a quick look at our pre season and we drew 2-2 with Besiktas yesterday and have Rubin Kazan Friday both on tour and then have home game with Palace Sat 28th. Nice to feel we're having a proper pre-season this time unlike last year... We actually came from 2-0 down to score twice in the last 10 mins against Besiktas. I'm never sure anymore how useful pre-season results are, but we didn't score many late goals last season, and also conceded (the opposite to the play-off final season the year before), which I put down to fitness and lack of team spirit, so i'd say that's a good result. Drew 0-0 with Rubin Kazan this afternoon. Of course when I said Paul McShane I meant John O'Shea. Of course both former Irish international centre-backs who have played for Sunderland so easy mistake to make I guess lol. Now seen we've also signed Marc McNulty (who scored the equaliser against Besiktas) and Darren Sidoel. Any thoughts on those 2? Think he signed a few. Lewis Baker from Chelsea. I can cash out for same amount I put on. You just need to keep the faith championship will be very close this year. Nottingham Forest are 5th favourite for some reason How do you think Reading will do?

Reading must be the hardest team to predict ever, they yoyo from top 5 to bottom 5. Meyler is top class at that level, McNulty certainly knew where the net was for Coventry and Clement is a great coach. But I think mid table obscurity for Reading

I'd take that after last season! I'd like to think we'd get 50 points but no idea atm whether we'll get more than that. I did think McNulty was at Coventry but wasn't sure of his position until I saw his goal. The Besiktas game was streamed and today's game was on YouTube, been positive comments about Meyler. Whilst I wasn't sure what to make of the O'Shea signing, Meyler was a bit of a wow signing when I saw it.

Yeovil to win the league, dream on, same with Mansfield I'd be happy with playoffs as that's an improvement on Evans. Just noticed in Conference/National North that there are these ex league teams now. Boston Bradford PA Chester Darlo Hereford Kiddy Harriers Southport Stockport York I'd like to see two of them get promoted, Stockport and Hereford maybe, be a very hard league!

Hmm, we're going to struggle to stay up. Looks like Liam Moore is off to Brighton and today we were thrashed 4-0 at home to Palace.

Stags have beaten Derby 3-1, drew with Sheff U 0-0, beat dirty Sheff Weds 2-1, and now just beaten Rotherham 2-1. They are very good results, but it's just pre season, and what matters is next saturday and beating New port County! By the way Forestieri of Sheff Weds allegedly racially abused our centre back, using the N word, and at full time, punched one of our players in the face after he offered to shake his hand, he then pegged it for the changing rooms being pursued by several Mansfield Town players and staff, what a tw*t!

Ridiculous, of course, that Hereford are in Conference North. It really is time regionalising of leagues started higher up.

I remember the days of Mansfield being moved from Div 3 North to South each season, seems odd that the line now seems to go down to just above Bristol? I know Gloucester have been in National North as well. I'm not too keen on the evostick east and west thing.

One for suedehead We've signed Sam Baldock, good signing?
Also, George Evans (defensive midfielder who can also play at centre-back) has gone to Derby. I thought he should have been given more of a chance last season but I didn't think we'd sell him to a team aiming for promotion who we play on Friday...

Good luck to Reading this evening, if the Stags can beat "Frank Lampard's Derby", then I'm sure Reading can as well!

Stupid me for thinking the game was petering out for a draw, should know by now not to get complacent with Reading! If there's anything positive to take, pre-match on Radio Berkshire they were talking about the first game of our record season when we lost 2-1 at home to Plymouth to a very late goal (when apparently we didn't deserve to lose...)

No Championship, League One or Two highlights on Channel 5 tonight. (Unlike last season). Anybody know which channel (if any) is showing the non-Premier leagues this season ?
