The EFL have called off the Bolton v Brentford game www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48067603What a complete mess and surely now the club will sink into administration. For starters, if the players aren't paid by April 30 (when their next wages are due to be paid, having not yet been paid their wages from March) then I believe all the players can simply leave the club on a free with no need to give any notice. Secondly the EFL will punish the club with both a heavy fine and will probably award three points and a 2-0 win to Brentford.

I believe the idea that's been in the pipeline for a couple of years is to have one of the divisons taking in the north east and Yorkshire. The FA have already stated that 3 teams will be promoted from each of the 3 northern leagues (the Northern League, North West Counties and Northern Counties East) at step 5 at the end of next season. It's also believed the NPL will change the split again for next season to something more diagonal rather than east/west or north/south. I'm not quite sure how things will look when there's 3 NPL divisions at step 4 but it could be something like east/west/south divisions.

Cheers Misterh, and yeah Robbie it's a mess, but who's going to pay the bills when there's no money, but it needs sorting until the end of the season, and then stuff can happen in the close season. Similar thing is at Bury, players have not been paid, club 3m in debt, but players still playing because there's a chance of promotion, so they will go pop next season instead, that's not very fair is it?

By the way Bury were taken over in december 2018, and now the new bloke is selling the club and moaning about the cost of running the club against income, maybe should have looked at that when you did your due diligence, always check the books balance, because you know the league money you get at the start/end of the season has already been spent! This is a quote from their chairman/owner "It’s a Club with c4,500 regular fans; it has staffing levels akin to a Championship Club. We need c£1.6m to pay wages, HMRC, pensions (not creditors) to the end of May, and we have a projected income of c£180k for this period." "We asked the players, due to c£250k of electric and water bills (along with numerous other bills) hitting, and monies not coming in as expected, if could they wait for their wages so we could keep the Club open; players agreed." They really are in the mire, and apparently owe over 3m on the ground that previous owners took out in loans on it. I cant see how they can get through it without going into administration. Speaking of which, have Notts County got new owners yet? Or are they waiting to see what league they are in, before making the offer. Same happened to the Stags when we were relegated, the leech Haslam sold the club as he could no longer siphon off the league monies into his own accounts therefore leaving the new owners with no money, paying rent on a ground and wages of players and staff they couldn't afford. Some owners absolutely break clubs

I was wondering what would happen to Bolton, would they get fined/points deduction, game awarded to Brentford or will Bolton's results be expunged for the season as was suggested last month. But from what's been mentioned here
www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48077182
The games will be played and they'll play the youth team if they have to. It seems they would have done today had their U18s not had a game on Thursday. The daft thing is until I saw that article I thought that the game being called off and maybe Brentford being awarded the win worked out well for them, as they are so poor away from home that i'm not sure they would have won today! Bolton have tended to get points against the poorer sides as well.
Also, it was mentioned on Talksport last night that apparently if the Bolton players haven't been paid by 30th April they are free to leave. Their new owner has talked about having 12-15m to spend on new players, which sounded a lot in L1, but they may have to find a whole new team!

Frying pan, meet fire.
Ken Anderson, Bolton's current/previous owner is a scumbag ex-agent, whose ownership of the club has been a disgrace.
But Laurence Bassini, Bolton's future/current owner is a two-times former bankrupt who was found guilty of dishonesty and misconduct during his year as owner of Watford, and banned from any involvement in the running of football clubs for 3 years. (A pathetically small sanction, given what he did). I would take any promises he makes about Bolton with a pinch of salt, and I'm not remotely surprised that the Football League is taking its time sanctioning his takeover.
I really feel for the fans of the club. I regularly enjoyed my trips to Bolton when they were in the Premier Division. In those days the stadium was wonderful, and the fans were great, with realistic expectations about what they could expect to achieve, and genuine joy when they over-achieved.

I feel for the fans, but it's the staff and players I feel for most. It shows how bad things are because I've not heard of players going on strike before, certainly not at professional level anyway.
Following on from Andy's comment about non-league, I've not followed what's being going on at Herne Bay recently but discovered the other day that their joint managers resigned last month, and their caretaker can't do the job permanently beyond the season because of his young child. His comments sounded bleak, basically if the club aren't careful there won't be a club in 5 years time I'm guessing putting players on contracts because of the level of interest in them last season may have come back to bite them. Jake Embery (son of one of the former managers), who I think is the club's record scorer at step 4 level despite only being 19, joined Maidstone earlier in the year and the club got nothing for him as he released himself from his contract and was playing for free, I think to speed up the process of joining a full-time club. Could be another struggle to stay up next season.

Bolton's two remaining games are both against teams in mid-table obscurity, Brentford and Nottm Forest. Therefore, I would guess the Football League would prefer to award victories to those teams rather than expunging Bolton's whole record.
Presumably any points deduction for Bolton (assuming they still exist) would apply next season. Didn't they change the rules after Leeds went into administration a dozen or so years ago?

Yeah the -5, or -10, or -12 points would be the start they have in League 1. I find it odd that certain owners are found to be doing dodgy things and banned, and I noticed that the guy interested in Bolton was ex Watford and had been in trouble, if I was a Bolton fan, I'd be cacking my pants! And yet tiny Mansfield had an owner supported by the local MP who gave himself 1m in loans that he didn't have to pay back, and he got away scot free to his villa on the Algarve funded by our money.

Leyton Orient promoted back to the FL. I normally don't want to see more London clubs in the league, but there's something about Orient. I don't know much about the club, but it feels like it is a proper community organisation - like AFC Wimbledon or Dagenham & Redbridge - and I like the sound of that.
Normally, I'd want to see more provincialism in the league. Which means Wrexham or Harrogate would be my preferences to secure the other place.
But, over the years, Eastleigh have provided a couple of youngsters to Southampton, and, more often, have been a place for ex-stars, including Matt Le Tissier, to wind down. So a debut in the league for them would be nice.
Solihull are the closest to my home, which means I'd probably go and see them play from time-to-time, especially in cup matches.
And Salford seem to have the best facilities, and financial security. (And don't start up on them buying their way upwards. Because that happens at every level of football, from Real Madrid and Manchester City downwards, and I would prefer a wealthy club to yet another that is run by criminals or idiots and on the verge of bankruptcy).
Which just leaves Fylde, as the only one I can't find a reason to want to see promoted. Which means my money's on Fylde winning the play-offs.

Bournemouth equalise against Southampton. The Saints have now lost over 30 points from winning positions this season. Add 30 points to our current tally, and we'd be guaranteed 7th place.

It's all kicked off in the Villa v Leeds game where Leeds scored after a Villa player was injured on the ground, so Bielsa said Villa could walk a goal in, but it was absolute chaos after the goal was scored.

Football's a funny game, for 75 minutes Liverpool go toe to toe with Barcelona, same possession stats, and still end up losing 3 - 0.

Fair play to Liverpool, they had a good go, it would've been 4-0 if Allison hadn't disobeyed Klopp and went up for that last corner which would've ended in a 3 on 1 open goal for Barcelona

Andy will be disappointed that mansfield didn't get automatic promotion, losing 1-0 to promotion rivals MK Dons.
Newcastle are currently drawing 2-2 at home to Liverpool. I want Liverpool to win as I want them to win the PL. However Liverpool just can't seem to get it together, they look very disjointed. Klopp needs to make a couple of changes to the team.

Andy will be disappointed that mansfield didn't get automatic promotion, losing 1-0 to promotion rivals MK Dons. I was watching Soccer Saturday, apparently there were ugly scenes after that match with both sets of fans throwing stuff at each other, and at least one getting hurt Not seen any footage of that yet. Well he has now with Salah getting injured. I want Liverpool to win the league too, although I was still cheering City on vs Man Utd the other week. Wouldn't it be typical of Newcastle to get a result when you don't want them to
