The Beatles owned the Apple label and so were releasing their own music on it as they wished. Having signed Mary Hopkin also to their label it seems strange that they both released the same week, or at least they both charted the same week.
Anyway there are 4 new entries, you will know 2 of them and possibly a 3rd one which was by a band who later found fame, but this is the one you are least likely to know of the four.
With regards to Jackie Wilson reaching #1, he had a string of hits in the early 60s many written by Berry Gordy Jr, (Reet Petite, which came out in 1957, was written by him).
You might not know that "I Get The Sweetest Feeling", which was one of his British hits albeit later on (and then twice) was written by Van McCoy, who was later known for his disco tunes "Do The Hustle" and "The Shuffle".
"Hush" by Deep Purple is in the top 10, and would later be a UK hit for Kula Shaker. Deep Purple didn't write it though, it was written by Joe South, who also had a hit of his own with "Games People Play" but also wrote another big hit "Rose Garden" which was made most famous by Lyn Anderson's version.
As for "Those Were The Days", I'm sure you know that started out as a Russian folk song.
