I'll start with:
The Kings of Leon - Sex On Fire
I'm not saying it isn't a good song, but I am thoroughly sick of hearing it - and their earlier singles (like Red Morning Light, Molly's Chambers, the Bucket...) were much better anyway IMO.

Haha I knew somebody would say that. I still think it's one of the best songs ever made.
By the way, this thread was inspired by me revisiting some of Kings Of Leon's earlier songs on Spotify and thinking - "These songs are great, why do people only ever play bloody 'Sex On Fire'?!"
I totally agree with 'Summer Of 69'. I'll be quite happy if I don't hear that for another 60 years!

Biffy Clyro - Mountains
It is the one that always get played on stations like Radio x and Absolute and its so by numbers, great that they got a massive hit but its just not them.

everything by Radiohead is overrated; chances are they have done a better song than the one you are thinking of, but even their best is hideously overrated

everything by Radiohead is overrated; chances are they have done a better song than the one you are thinking of, but even their best is hideously overrated I was trying to keep specifically to the title of the thread rather than do that (I don't like X because I can't stand the singer's voice, etc)
However, in a similar way that James seem to have brought back their "musical albatross" after Chesney Hawkes went around doing fresher student uni gigs performing that song "If they want to disown the song, then I'll sing it".
Radiohead famously disowned "Creep"; but were persuaded to bring it back into their set after being owned in the most spectacular way possible by a now gone too soon musical genius.
Radiohead headlined a night of the Coachella festival, but famously did not play that song, much to the disappointment of US festival goers. The artist headlining Coachella the following night was aware of the Oxford band's excuse for not doing that song due to it losing a portion of its royalty for its bridge ripping off The Hollies "The Air That I Breathe". So (according to his band) his spent the 24 hours between Radiohead headlining & his performance getting them into shape to do this as his final song of his set and the entire festival whilst subtly subtly inverting the lyrics so they transcend the juvenile self-pitying of the original song (& band's behaviour to the track) and turned it into something more inclusive and poignant, and removing the need for its plagiarising bridge section.
He then promptly had uploads of this performance removed from youtube and the internet, until the Oxford band returned the song to their live set, which they did in 2015.

I've tried to get into it but it just sounds like a noise to me.

Kylie Minogue - Better The Devil You Know That was her 1st good song IMHO.
Her first two albums singles (bar the "kitsch Carpenters" themed Especially For You) were dreadful.

Maybe controversially, I'm going to say
The Killers - Mr Brightside
I used to love it but it's so overplayed now that it just annoys me now. Plus I think the other singles from that album, as well as 'When we were young' from the second are just as good if not better.

Bucks Fizz Making Your Mind Up. Eurovision propelled. In fairness - I thought they were created for the purpose of entering Eurovision, so without it I’m sure they wouldn’t have existed as a group. But yes, a large majority of their tracks are better than MYMU. If You Can’t Stand The Heat is my personal favourite.

REM - Shiny Happy People
This is always the one they seem to play on radio, but they have loads of better songs.

Elbow - One Day Like This
Their most famous song and yeah, it's good but I still rate most of their earlier singles over it, not to mention some of their later ones.

My fav by far is Now Those Days Are Gone but they made quite a number of good pop singles.
