245 Inspiral Carpets - The Beast Inside
Their second album and although very good, it did not quite match their debut and I didn't play it half as much. It was a big hit as well though and reached #5 in the UK.

244 Warm Jets - Future Signs
Its awhile since we have had one of these, a band that I was obsessed with that didn't have huge success. I would describe them as a power pop Feeder. The album only made #40 but both the main singles were top 40 hits on re-issue.

243 …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of The Dead – Madonna
Now I really need to listen to this album again, I was completely obsessed with it as well. In 1999 they were so different from everything else around and they had such amazing album sleeves, they just oozed cool. So much energy they mixed hardcore with shoegaze and managed to have tunes as well. A staple of late night MTV2. This cult album never actually charted but important to so many people.

242 Underworld – Beaucoup Fish
Underworld's 5th album and at this point they just could do no wrong. This was their biggest selling album even though it maybe doesn't have an iconic track. It reached #3 in the UK. I think I saw them live when this album was out and it was brilliant.

241 Skunk Anansie - Stoosh
Their really isn't much between their first two albums they are both brilliant, you wont have to wait long for their debut to appear. Possibly a less angry album than their debut but it also has two of their best singles on it. It reached #9 in the UK.

240 Fatboy Slim - Better Living Through Chemistry
More obsessions!! I didn't buy this at the time, I will admit, I bought it after the next record but I already knew the big tracks and 'Going Out Of My Head' is possibly my favourite Fatboy Slim song. Big Beat was amazing, for me it was the last really exciting dance genres. The album reached a fitting #69 in the UK.

239 Ash - Nu Clear Sounds
This is maybe a little high, its not really a classic record like many of these around it. I just want to reward Ash for me one of my favourite bands of the 90s and 00s I guess. It reached #7 in the UK.

238 Soul Asylum - Grave Dancers Union
Now I never knew that Soul Asylum has been around so long before this album. This was their 6th album and it was a massive hit in 1992, timed with grunge of course. They had been going since 1984, maybe I should check out their old stuff. There was not a bad track on this album which is most famous for the country rock ballad 'Runaway Train' but I prefer the power pop alt rock of this song. It reached #11 in the US and #27 in the UK.

Just one more and a band that my flatmate was obsessed with but he had moved out before this brilliant album was released.
237 The The - Dusk
I would love to be brave enough to enter these guys into Hit Factor, I think they woudl surprise a lot of people. Featuring Johnny Marr this was his best record since The Smiths until maybe his last solo album. This record is just gorgeous, I played so much The the on my walkman at this time. The album reached #2 in the Uk and was their biggest hit.

Lets continue with one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the 90s
236 Stereo Mcs - Connected
It won best British album at the Brit Awards in 1994 and was near the top of many year end polls. Apart from the style of rapping the album has not aged badly at all maybe beacuse it contains so many retrosamples anyway. I dont think we have a flat party that didnt have at least one song from this album played. I am really enjoying playing this. The album raeched #2 in the UK. Of all the singles this has aged the best.

235 Primal Scream – Vanishing Point
Primal Scream usually alternated between a rock nroll album and a experimental dance one and this is very in the latter category. Blending psychedelia, dub and big beat it could only exist in 1997. Some of these sonsg are quite hard to listen to know and others still sound incredible and there is even time for those lighter Primal moments we love. Just a powerful record. It reached #3 in the UK.

234 Cocteau Twins - Heaven Or Las Vegas
Yes I was very late to Cocteau Twins and this is the only record I own by them but its still pretty amazing. Total chills. Possibly the best female voice to come out of Scotland. Their biggest hit record reaching #7 in the UK and selling quarter of million copies in the UK.

233 R.E.M. - New Adventures In Hi Fi
I guess this album was the start of the decline for me. They became a band that was there and reliably good but not effecting me in quite the same way, it is very downbeat. It was the last of their records I bought on LP and the last one I wanted and didn't just buy out of loyalty. It reached #1 in the Uk and #2 in the US. But this is still a very high result its a great record.

232 Catherine Wheel - Ferment
This was the Catherines Wheels best album and so hard to find, I had to eventually get this of Ebay as its still not on downloads or streaming. They were so much more than just another shoegaze band and to be fair they were probably more successful than any other shoegaze band in the US as they had a bit of edge to their sound. It reached #36 in the UK in 1992.

231 Mundy - Jelly Legs
Baz Luhrman Romeo & Juliet had so much great music but when everyone was raving about The Cardigans and Wannadies, I was raving about this guy. 'To You I Bestow' was the best song on the soundtrack and it was no fluke as the rest of this album is great as well. He is still a very successful artist in his native Ireland.

230 Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes
So sad that we didn't get a chance to hear more from this record in Haven Factor. this one of those near perfect debut albums which really seemed to be a thing in the 90s. 5 Brilliant singles and the rest of the album is damn good as well. She never sounded so beautiful and fragile after this. It reached #14 in the UK in 1992.

229 Cast - All Change
Ok this may seem very pedestrian nex to many of the previous albums today but they were quite a special band for me at the time. This was as close as we ever got to a 2nd Las album and these are all solid Brit Pop classics. It reached #7 in the UK but actually went on to be Polydor biggest selling album ever.

It just missed the cut. From now on I am going to listen to every album in full as they are meant to be played so hopefully I can do at least 5 a week. First up.
228 EMF - Schubert Dip
Ok I failed at my challenge, I listened to four albums hehe Anyway this was really good but quite repititive, you get a bit sick of all the italo house piano on nearly every track but there was some surprisingly good album tracks that moved away from their template like 'Travelling Not Running' which is more like East 17 but its all in the same vibe really. The album reached #3 in the Uk and #12 in the US.
