December has been a great month for new releases in the Indie genre BUT they are so hard to come across and often go by unnoticed, every now and again the radio might pick up on the odd track so here are my favourite releases from the last few weeks that hopefully go on to have a great 2019

1. Only Sun Indie rock band from the High Wycombe area released a song every month in 2018 culminating in the fantastic NHS70 which is up there with the best they have released and it celebrates the NHS on its 70th birthday

2. Calva Louise Very much in the Jade Bird mould, angsty female fronted catchy fuzzy grunge pop, they are up there with my discoveries of 2018, they really caught my attention with I heard a Cry a few month ago www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsR0AAggwGI
Tug Of War (December 6th)

3. Micky James If this came on the radio you would be forgiven if you thought it was Circa Waves, it just has that 2014 indie rock sound, this one features the equally fantastic DREAMERS, also check out the fantastic Tie Me Up from a few month ago, the New Yorker looks and sounds like a young Gaz Coombes channelling a 70's style
Rest Of The Best (November 23rd)
Tie Me Up

4. The Candescents The Candescents have a bubble-gum guitar pop sound that's hard to ignore and are labelmates of the 1975, Pale Waves, if anyone remembers a band from 2015 called Dive In then that is pretty much their sound, the Ohio band released Boyfriend earlier this year which made #306 on my top 400 songs of 2018, they have been busy in December though releasing a video for new single Drink to Paradise (6th December) and adding Wet Tuesday (11th December) to Spotify so you get a 2 for one
Drink to Paradise (November)

5. Badflower Los Angeles rock act Badflower are set to release their debut full-length album, OK, I’M SICK, on February 22nd, they have had a released a few singles already, Ghost reached #2 in the Mainstream Rock Song chart and more recently Animal, they have released the video for Heroin on the 6th December, its a NSFW video about a toxic relationship so be warned, it is a slow building, grungy song and that's currently rising up the Mainstream Rock Song chart
Heroin (30th November)

6. Red Rum Club Very interesting band from Liverpool, they are a bit different to the usual run of the mill alternative/indie rock scene, expect plenty of brass section and souring choruses, they have released a few singles from their forthcoming debut album, ‘Matador’, set for worldwide release on January 11 2019
Would You Rather Be Lonely? (16th November)
Angeline (13th December)
