Awesome presentation smokeyb. And thanks for hosting this so efficiently throughout the year. If I remember correctly you stepped in to take over at short notice when the person who had initiated this stopped doing it after just a few weeks without warning. Wasn't 1968 a brilliant year for music. Will be interesting to see if 1969 is as good, given I remember 69/70 being a transition period between the superb musical movements of the 60s (British beat boom, Motown/Stax, the summer of love...) and the 70s innovations, starting with glam.

Thanks for the positive comments,it took some time to present all the facts & figures (how did we manage before excel),but at least I don't have to worry about it for another 12 months.
Indeed 1969 has some awesome songs, I remember the year very well and some of my all time favourite songs are from this year, there is a wide variety of music to suit all of us.
I'm looking forward to discovering it week by week as it develops.

"Angel Of The Morning" was a #4 hit in my chart for Merilee Rush & The Turnabouts.

I wasn't expecting it to be at the time but after completing all of the 60s I declared that 1968 was definitely the strongest year and the weakest was 1962.
1969 had a weak start but then picked up. 1971 also has an extremely slow start.
Difficult to judge 1970 as it has a few totally outstanding songs in it.

I know how long these sort of things take - I've been pointing and charting for 50 years Appreciated, especially my own rundown of acts and songs, saves me having to do it! 1969 is one of my very fave years and the year I started buying my own records, so a key year for me. I had to hold off charting at number one the first record I ever bought with my own money as it popped into the US Breakers this week a bit TOO early before it took off and it belongs in 1969....oops!
