13/10/2019 Liz Phair - Good Life
The 1990s lo-fi singer/songwriter is back with a brand new track sounding as ever as a cross somewhere between Judee Sill & Aimee Mann. Her first in too long, taken from her TBA 7th album out "sometime in 2020", her first since 2010's Funstyle.

14/10/2019 Field Music - Only In A Man's World

Only In A Man's World is taken from the new Sunderland art rock band's album "Making a New World", to be released on 10 January 2020 via Memphis Industries.

17/10/2019 Pixx - Peanuts Grow Underground
Hannah Rodgers' band released their latest album Small Mercies on 4AD earlier this year. But Radio 6 Music have picked up this evocative synth dance track which sounds like a cross between Kate Bush & Claudia Brucken produced by Giorgio Moroder.

18/10/2019 Rose Elinor Dougall - Natural State
Another track which I heard today driving home with Radio 6 Music on ... This new or should it be Neu! sounding track is a stand alone release by the former Pipette, whom released her third album A New Illusion in January. Curiously, it features fellow former Pipette, Gwenno on synths and backing harmony vocals.

19/10/2019 DJ Spoony ft The Sugababes - Flowers
I'm not too big a fan of covers which sail too close to the original, but seeing as this morning Dermot O'Leary played this on his Radio 2 breakfast show, then when I got into the car to listen to Radcliffe & Maconie on their weekend BBC 6 Music show play the same track after their (Mk 1) performance last night on the Graham Norton Show (which was far from the mess Shakespeare's Sister were a few months back) then I had to pick this track.

24/10/2019 The 1975 - Frail State of Mind
According to lead singer Matt Healy on his Beats1 interview with Zane Lowe about the latest new material from the forthcoming ‘Notes On A Conditional Form’ album:
“I think there was like a maybe a fragility to us, because maybe we were a little bit frightened or something. And I think that, well I mean the song’s called ‘Frail State of Mind’, it’s about anxiety…it’s quite sombre.”
He added: “It kind of blends between euphoria and UK Garage and yeah, it goes from a real sadness to a real euphoria. I think that this record…again, is going back to a place where we grew up…I very much channeled, kind of like 17, 18 year old me and George [Daniel, drummer], that’s kind of been the vibe, and I’m really enjoying it.”
