HAVEN COMBI RETRO-CHART W/B 11th JANUARY 1987

Alison Moyet gets a comfortable second week at number one, registering a slight dip in points for the first time in eight weeks but widening Is This Love’s gap at the top of the chart.




The Pretenders move up to number two with Hymn To Her, their second record in just a few months to reach this high.


Elkie Brooks is still climbing as No More The Fool moves up two places to number three.


Iggy Pop and Robbie Nevil share the honours at number four with Real Wild Child and C’est La Vie both climbing into the Top Five.


There’s a huge leap of 21 places for Swing Out Sister as Surrender blasts into the Top Ten at number 6, already beating the number 8 peak of their first hit Breakout.


The Bangles lead a massive ten new entries as Walking Down Your Street enters at number 20 to become their highest debuting song to date.

Taffy's spell at the top is cut short by dance anthem Jack Your Body, but even that is under pressure from a huge climb from Pepsi and Shirlie.  I saw this on Top of the Pops this week and it still sounds fantastic.  Unfortunately there's not much chart longevity in that top three.  There's also a big climb for Behind The Mask, a rare appearance from Eric Clapton on my chart.
