There were so many great tracks on Bill's debut LP. This is probably my second favourite (my favourite being Tomorrow Is Today, but I don't think that would have made a good single choice).

I love a bit of New York's Piano Man....
Billy Joel - Vienna
This 1977 The Stranger album cut was first released as the B-side to his "Just the Way You Are" single. But only started to take off in popular pop culture in the 21st Century when it appeared in a pivotal scene in the 2004 romantic comedy 13 Going on 30, starring Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo.
But only started to go stratospheric after Ariana Grande covered the song in 2011, initially sending the MP3 to her fans if they donated to her 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami appeal. Since then it has become a go to mainstay of US music TV talent shows being performed on numerous occasions; and has been also covered by Mac Miller; & Nightcore.
Whilst today it is his fifth most streamed track on Spotify with over 61 million streams .... nearly 15 million more plays than its original A-side!

Katy Perry - One Of The Boys
Katy Perry could have five # 1 singles from one album in my chart with "One Of The Boys" release instead "Thinking Of You".

I had absolutely no idea this wasn't a single! When I went to see him last year this was an outright crowd favourite. I've always felt like most tracks from the Stranger must have been singles because I've grown up familiar with pretty much everything on there.

Kym Marsh - Live Forever
Best song from her album, which I prefer over the selected singles.

From the Sugar Tax album...
...given that "Sailing On The Seven Seas" had put the OMD name back in the charts, I reckon releasing this as the follow-up might have pushed McCluskey right over to the top spot. But I assume it was too painful given it was written about the thankfully temporary split with Paul, Malc and Martin.

I know we had lots of great singles from Jollification to chose from - however I had always hoped they had gone with this track as a single at some point, featuring the fabulous Alison Moyet.

Madness that this wasn't pushed as an official single - has ABBA classic written all over it.
