I have been to this one a few times in 2014 and 2015 so always keep an eye out and the undercard looks particularly decent this year

Y Not has been a disaster for the last 2 years.
In 2017 they cancelled the festival on the Sunday morning, having failed miserably to plan for bad weather. None of the main stage acts had played on Friday, and there had been loads of problems on Saturday too. Furthermore, there were numerous reports of thefts from tents.
In 2018 the weather was much better. But they still lost the Saturday headliner because of some drizzle.
My advice is avoid Y Not like the plague. Its organisers are either incompetent or looking to fleece the punters.

I do love the lower half of festival line-ups, full of bizarre band names. Bitch Falcon is the highlight of that one for me.

True, yes the last 2 year have been a bit of a disaster, they were bought out by Global and 2017 was the first year under the new management but it is hard to avoid them as they buying out almost every minor festival in England South West Four REWIND Truck Festival Festival No. 6 Field Day Victorious Festival Y NOT Festival Hideout Festival (Croatia) Standon Calling

I'm not allowed a festival this year as we have a big holiday coming, biggest ever going to Orlando at Xmas. Although I really want to do Glastonbury 2020.

I've never managed to get tickets to Glastonbury yet. And I always click on the site the second they go on sale.

I'm now back from Bearded Theory. Such a great festival. Chilled crowd, notably devoid of p*ssed-up teenagers. Terrific music. And with a limit of 10,000, you can get close to the front of the stage if you want.
My Top 10 acts from the weekend, based on their performances:-
1. Little Steven & the Disciples of Soul. Springsteen's left hand man, and acclaimed actor, Steve van Zandt really knows how to put together a show. Rock, soul, some bossa nova, one twist, a reggae number, a little bit of politics. Superb.
2. Skids. Richard Jobson still putting all he has into a show, and plenty of humour in his between-song banter.
3. The Cult. Stopped the first song of the encore after about a minute, because half the band was playing "Rain" and the other half "She Sells Sanctuary". The latter was the best single song performance of the whole festival.
4. Editors. 5. Doves. Close call between those two.
6. Dreadzone. Simply a performance Sunday afternoon festival band. Bearded Theory regulars, which means they get a big crowd.
7. Suede. With apologies for putting a big headliner so low on the list. But I'm not especially familiar with their more recent material, and it didn't really grab me. The few 90s hits that they played were very well done. And Brett Anderson worked harder than anyone across the weekend. I'm sure all the Suede fans in the audience would have gone back to their tents absolutely delighted.
8. The Sherlocks. Ones to watch for the future.
9. Idlewild. Didn't do enough of their slower, more subtle material.
10. The Blunders. Discovery of the weekend. Sheffield post-punk band. They won't go anywhere, but if I see them on a festival bill in future, I'll go and see them again.
Disappointing. The Skatalites, Reef, Wildhearts.

Love The Sherlocks. They are #1 in my chart at the moment. They are one of the better indie rock bands around.
Wouldve loved to see the Cult too, huge fan of them but never had the chance to see them. Idlewild I saw last month and they were quality, great misc of songs but they had a slot where they had 20 songs to play with.
Overall it sounds like you had a good time

I went to quite an unusual festival gig last night.
KT Tunstall at Lichfield Cathedral, as part of the Lichfield Festival (of music, comedy, theatre & art).
Positives:- fantastic venue - beautifully lit, resonant acoustics KT is a very engaging performer, who communicates entertainingly with her audience
Negative:- terrible crowd - seems like half had turned up expecting Songs of Praise or a lecture about the gargoyles

I've seen Cast live several times. They're brilliant, and cruelly under-rated. But I have no recollection at all of Salad or Geneva. Enjoy.

I saw Salad several times back in the nineties. Unfortunately, I never got to see Geneva.

tickets were only £33, I'm not familiar with Salad or Geneva but they both had half a dozen minor hits in the 90's, I will have to have a listen, from what little I've heard Salad sound a bit like early Sleeper
