We do often see though a team who gets to the playoffs then fall away and Scunthorpe, who were in the playoffs both of the last 2 seasons are now in the bottom 4 after we just beat them 4-0. Shrewsbury who did well last season have had a very bad season this time but will probably stay up. Reading were the same - a penalty shootout away from reaching the Premier League two years ago, they've had two relegation battles since then.

This weekend...
Championship Norwich will be promoted unless they lose and Leeds win. Sheffield United will join them in the Premier League if they better the result of Leeds - which would put the latter team in the play-offs. Rotherham will be relegated their result is worse than Millwall's.
League One Luton will be promoted if they win and either Barnsley or Portsmouth don't, or if they draw, Barnsley lose, and Portsmouth don't lose - Portsmouth are playing at 4th-placed Sunderland. Walsall will be relegated if they lose, or if Southend and Plymouth both win, or if they draw and two of: Southend don't lose, Plymouth don't lose, Wimbledon win, Scunthorpe win. Wimbledon and Scunthorpe can both also be relegated this weekend, if they lose and both Southend and Plymouth win.
League Two Bury will be promoted if they win and either Mansfield or MK Dons don't, or if they draw and both of their rivals lose. Forest Green will be in the play-offs if they lose, or Bury, Mansfield and MK Dons at least match their results (or if they draw and Bury and one other of those teams win). Tranmere will be in the play-offs if they fail to win, or if two of Bury, Mansfield and MK Dons win. Notts County and Yeovil can both be relegated, if they lose and Macclesfield win.

Reading were the same - a penalty shootout away from reaching the Premier League two years ago, they've had two relegation battles since then. Whilst I don't think having an unfit squad that was demotivated by that playoff final defeat (which on reflection since I think is right up there as one of the worst Reading games I've been to), helped us last season, I think our problems really go back to one man, Ron Gourlay, and his arrival shortly after that playoff final. I remember halfway through last season when there were calls for Stam to go having a feeling that something wasn't right at the club but not being able to put my finger on what it was (something I referred to in misterhamster's club thread at the start of this season). Then as this season unfolded stories came out of people who worked at the club being unhappy at working for him and leaving in their droves. Since he left in November things have gradually improved, Nigel Howe came back as chief executive to replace him in December and for the last month and a half its felt like we've got our identity back. Sir John Madejski has been on BBC Radio Berkshire a couple of times, first when Howe came back and then on Easter Monday after the game, and whilst he hasn't wanted to reflect too much on the past it's clear that he wasn't impressed by how the club was being run.

This weekend (part 2)
National League (final day) Leyton Orient will be promoted unless they lose (at home to 23rd-placed Braintree) and either Salford win with a 5-goal swing, or Solihull win with an 8-goal swing.
SPL Celtic will win the league if they win and Rangers don't. Rangers would then be in the Europa League.
Scottish Championship Ross County will seal promotion on Friday if they avoid defeat, or on Saturday if Dundee United* fail to win. Falkirk will be relegated if their result is bettered by both Queen of the South and Alloa.
Scottish League One Montrose will be in the play-offs unless they don't win and East Fife do.
Scottish League Two Peterhead will be promoted if they win, Clyde* lose, or both draw. Berwick will be in the relegation play-offs unless they beat fellow strugglers Albion Rovers.
* - team would be in the play-offs if their rivals get promoted.
WSL (Sunday) Arsenal will win the league if they win, or if Man City fail to better their result.
... that was much simpler than Leagues One and Two!

Leyton Orient back after a 0-0 draw and Salford lost 3-2. So Salford and Solihull get byes, as Fylde play Harrogate and Wrexham v Eastleigh, I'd like Wrexham back as they came down with the Stags, I've done their ground and they've done their penance, and always bring a good away support, plus we beat them to be promoted ourselves a few years ago. I'll have jinxed them now

Regarding losing 4 southern teams from the National/Conference, assume that it will be two from these that may move north? Gloucester, Oxford city, Hemel Hempstead, Chelmsford (in playoffs), on the telly earlier he was saying that Braintree might have to go into it?

Wow, Yeovil gone after being 2-0 up and looking safer. Last spot comes between Notts County and Macclesfield, where County are away at Swindon and Macc at home to Cambridge, Macc have a 2 point lead and GD advantage, so a draw will see them safe. As for the div 2 playoffs, far too complicated to work out, but you can guess the Stags will stuff it up Gutting.

Two founder members of the Premier League are going up: Norwich and Sheffield United were both promoted over the weekend. Rotherham have been relegated, leaving just one play-off place to be decided. Luton lost, but may still be promoted tomorrow if results go their way. Charlton had their place in the play-offs confirmed. Wimbledon are now outside the relegation zone! Scunthorpe can still survive despite their defeat, while Walsall won to keep their hopes alive: it'll be three from six on the final day. Tranmere v Bury was postponed! They'll hopefully play on Tuesday. Forest Green will be in the play-offs; they can't catch both Mansfield and MK Dons as they're playing each other! Notts County can still survive, but Yeovil are down.

Ross County were promoted in style with a 4-0 win, so Dundee United are in the play-offs. Falkirk need a final-day win to avoid relegation. Montrose are in the play-offs despite defeat. Peterhead could only draw at home to Stirling, so their battle with Clyde goes to the final day. Berwick lost, so they're in the relegation play-off. Some joy for the red-female part of North London, as Arsenal won their first WSL title for seven years and 15th overall.

A lot happened as a result of three matches last night! Portsmouth and Sunderland both lost and are therefore in the play-offs - because Luton and Barnsley are promoted! Bury also went up with a draw, and Tranmere will be in the play-offs as they can't catch both Mansfield and MK Dons.

Right, last weekend of the season for all leagues apart from the PL and SPL... these permutations cover Saturday and Sunday only.
ENGLAND
Premier League Sp*rs will be in the Champions League again if they win, or if both Arsenal and Man Utd fail to win (unless Sp*rs lose and Arsenal draw). Chelsea will be in the CL if they win and both Arsenal and Man Utd fail to do so. Cardiff will be relegated unless they better Brighton's result.
Championship (Sunday, 12:30) Champions: Norwich will win the league unless they lose and Sheff Utd win. Play-offs: Derby will take the last play-off place if they win; if they don't, then Middlesbrough will take it with a win (or with a draw if Derby lose by 7 goals). If Derby lose and Boro fail to win, then Bristol City will take the last spot with a win. If Derby draw, then City will need an 8-goal win (or 9-2 if Derby draw 0-0).
League One (Saturday, 17:30) Champions: Luton are ahead of Barnsley by 4 goals on goal difference. Play-offs: Doncaster will take the final place with a win; if they don't Peterborough need a win (or a draw if Doncaster lose by 10 goals). Relegation: now then, from the bottom... Plymouth (21st) v Scunthorpe (23rd) - at least one of these two will go down. Scunthorpe must win and hope both Walsall and Southend fail to do so to survive. Plymouth need to avoid defeat, and also two of the following: better Southend's result (or if Southend win, they need an 11-goal swing); win + Wimbledon lose (or win by 4 + Wimbledon draw); win or Walsall fail to win. Walsall (22nd) away to Shrewsbury (17th) - to stay up, Walsall must win and two of: Plymouth fail to win, Southend fail to win, Wimbledon lose. Southend (20th) v Sunderland (4th) - Despite being outside the drop zone, Southend will definitely be down if they lose. If they draw, they'll be down unless Plymouth v Scunthorpe is a draw and Walsall fail to win. A win keeps them safe unless Plymouth win by at least 12 and Wimbledon also win. Wimbledon (19th) away to Bradford (24th) - Wimbledon will be down if they lose and two of: Southend win, Plymouth win, Walsall win, Scunthorpe win with an 8-goal swing. If they draw, Wimbledon will be down if Southend win and Plymouth win by 4. Wycombe (18th) v Fleetwood (11th) - Wycombe will only be down if they lose, Wimbledon and Southend both win, and Plymouth win with a 12-goal swing.
League Two (Saturday, 15:00) Promotion: A straight battle: MK Dons (4th) v Mansfield (3rd): Mansfield will go up unless MK Dons win. Play-offs: Newport will take the final place if they win, or if they draw and Exeter fail to win, or if they lose, Exeter lose, and Colchester, Carlisle and Stevenage all fail to win. Exeter will get the play-off place if they win and Newport don't, or if they draw, Newport lose, Colchester don't win by 2, Carlisle don't win by 6, and Stevenage don't win by 9. Colchester (+9 GD), Carlisle (+5) and Stevenage (+2) are all three points behind Newport (+0) and two behind Exeter (+11), so they each must win for a chance of the play-offs.
Relegation: Notts County will go down unless they win and Macclesfield lose (or draw with an 8-goal swing).

SCOTLAND
SPL Celtic will win the league unless they lose and Rangers win. Dundee will be relegated unless they better St Mirren's result.
Championship Falkirk will be down unless they win (against promoted Ross) and either Alloa lose, or Queen of the South lose (with a 10-goal swing); if one of those happens, they'll be in the relegation play-off. If both happen, they'll be safe. Alloa will be down if they lose and Falkirk win. They'll be in the relegation play-off unless they win, or draw with QotS losing. The two sides just outside the trap-door play each other: Queen of the South (8th) v Partick (7th). Either side will be safe if they win. QotS can be relegated with that 10-goal swing, or in the play-off if Alloa better their result. Partick will be in that play-off if they lose and Alloa win.
League One Brechin (10th) v Stenhousemuir (9th): Brechin will be relegated unless they win, in which case Stenhousemuir will go down. A relegation play-off awaits the winner (or Stenhousemuir if they draw).
League Two Peterhead will be promoted if they win, or if they draw and Clyde don't win by 5+, or if they lose and Clyde don't win. Clyde go up otherwise.

So one of these will be in the Football league next season, AFC Fylde, Salford, Solihull Moors or Eastleigh! I'm hoping for the northern teams, then I can tick off their grounds, all get poor crowds though

So one of these will be in the Football league next season, AFC Fylde, Salford, Solihull Moors or Eastleigh! I'm hoping for the northern teams, then I can tick off their grounds, all get poor crowds though Salford average 2500 which is good for that level. I can see some fans deserting FC United to start watching Salford instead.
