When I started compiling a list of my favourite all time songs by a solo female singer, this one actually was in my top 5 and is possibly 2nd or 3rd
Number one 10 years ago this week
Polly Scattergood - Other Too Endless

this one was just gripping.
And isn't it always great when a band makes up a word.

I don't know if a top 40 album is allowed. This band had one but never a top 40 single.

The Pierces - It Will Not Be Forgotten
I loved The Pierces - their You & I album was excellent. I’m still hoping there will be another album from them, although their solo material has also been very good.

The Revelations - You’re The Loser
One top 200 single, one album, one Eurovision attempt, and also the reason for my first post at Haven to find out where this charted.

Sticking with mid-80s brilliance involving performers who went on to have some greater degree of success later on. Just as Friends Again gave way to Love and Money (who themselves maybe warrant an entry in this thread), so the Care preceded the Lightning Seeds...

While this act at least saw a cover version of one of their songs, "Weak In The Presence of Beauty" become a hit for Alison Moyet.

I will try and pick some from the 21st century , I know lots of bands don't go top 40 but these are some that really should have and have a bit of legacy regardless.
