The '59 Sound and Lazy Eye! What a couple of absolutely brilliant songs.
It's criminal that The Gaslight Anthem are a member of the 75 Club (with the song "45")

Always thought this song (and a couple of others by the group) deserved a bit more attention that they got.

This is criminal that he never had a hit over here:
Jim Croce - I Got A Name
From the film The Last American Hero, which was a fictionalized account of NASCAR legend Junior Johnson. Whose career stalled in its early throes after he was arrested for moonshine running. Johnson's boast was that they caught him at the still - never on the road.
Tom Wolfe wrote an article for Esquire about Johnson under a similar title, and it inspired the film.

Always loved 10,000 Maniacs - such a shame they didn't have more success over in the UK. Trouble Me is a song I return to often

Aimee Mann - hardly a bad song from her, and all of them might break your heart. Lyrically amazing

Possibly my favourite band right now. I was shocked to discover that the nearest thing they have to a UK Top 40 single is 'Addicted To Pain', which reached a massive #150 in 2013. This, however, is from their 2004 debut album.

Loved this band so much The Gaslight Anthem - The '59 Sound I adore Gaslight Anthem and Brian Fallon. Amazing and under appreciated songs. 59 Sound is probably their finest

This popped up on my YouTube feed, a big hit in the US but they never broke over here. Loved this at the time during the indie and rock is dead era of 2010-2011. I actually think they were ahead of their time.

I think Animal did make the top 40, scraping in at #40 or possibly #39?

Although Ida Corr had a few hits, I still love the album by the band SugaRush Beats Company she was involved in. Sadly the videos of their performances on Jools Holland seem to have been deleted (they were awesome!) but my favourite tracks were:
L-O-V-E
Love Breed

E-Rotic - Fritz love my tits
Most Eurodance acts that were quite popular around Europe at the time were ignored by UK (Captain Jack, La Bouche, Masterboy and so on). They weren't that good, but have released a few catchy tunes.

Little Eva's backing group joined the 50 Club with this one penned by Eva's employers Goffin & King. The song is perhaps more notable for being the first one The Beatles recorded with George on lead. Lead singer Earl-Jean McCrea recorded a solo single that also had a later, more notable cover version - "I'm Into Something Good".

Every member of the 50 club reached my chart with the exception of Chaquito and Sundragon, due to those two getting there with a cover version of a song someone else charted with.
Chains by the Cookies reached NM #5.
The biggest hit by an artist in the 50 club was "Night Of The Vampire" by the Moontrekkers. That just missed being #1 and was one of the biggest #2s of 1961, which was a huge year for instrumentals.
The artist in the 50s club who had the most NM hits was Jimmy Clanton who had 3. "Go Jimmy Go" and the original "Venus In Blue Jeans" in addition to "Another Sleepless Night" which was his only UK entry. "Venus In Blue Jeans" reached NM #6 for him and was a UK hit for Mark Wynter.

It somewhat amazes me that a band can easily sell out a big venue like Brixton Academy without having had any hits singles in this country.
But Dropkick Murphys can. I saw them live in 2015. This song came out in January 2017

Just had to put in the one band who had the most chart entries without ever hitting the top 40. In an era of Welsh bands making it in the late 90s (Manics, Catatonia, Stereophonics, Super Furries), it surprises me that this band never got a top 40 hit. Nearest they got to was No.41 with "Patio Song", but I've gone with
Gorky's Zygotic Mynci - Spanish Dance Troupe

While we're on with Welsh bands, I just thought I'd post one from The Joy Formidable, one of the more original and exciting bands I've come across in recent years. I was quite surprised to learn that, despite being a British band, they've made a decidedly bigger splash across the pond than in the UK.
