Apparently it's something to do with the Indian board's own regulations, stating there must be 15 days between tournaments so they wanted a gap between the IPL final and India's first game. As it turned out, the IPL ended up being brought forward anyway due to the Indian elections.

Match 8, The Rose Bowl: South Africa 227-9 (50) Morris 42; Chahal 4-51 India 230-4 (47.3) R Sharma 122*; Rabada 2-39 India win by 6 wicketsMan of the Match: Rohit Sharma India made their bow with a win over low-on-confidence South Africa. South Africa looked like being dismissed cheaply but did well to bat out their 50 overs and give themselves something to defend. India navigated their way through some tight bowling and Rohit Sharma's unbeaten century saw them home with 15 balls to spare. South Africa have now lost 3 out of 3 and may well need to win all their remaining games to reach the semi-finals.

I'm off to my second match today. Australia vs West Indies at Trent Bridge. Will be odd going to a game as a neutral supporter. I'm not automatically anti-Aussie, as many British cricket fans are, so I guess I'll be cheering great play by both teams.

England produce the type of performance we've been waiting for, smashing 386-6 off their 50 overs - their highest ever World Cup score.

On this occasion it was David Warner, who played on in the 2nd over when on 1.
