Root dropped again! By Paine this time. If he'd left it, it was going straight to Warner at slip.

271-8 at the close. Another poor collapse but an unbeaten 45 for the 9th wicket between Buttler and Leach at least puts England back in the game.

Very good day for England. Australia all out for 225, a 1st innings lead of 69 for England with Archer taking 6 wickets and 3 wickets for the returning Sam Curran, including 2 in 2 balls. England 9-0 at the close after successfully overturning an lbw decision off the final ball of the day.

I suppose I'm glad that England drew the Series but there's a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.
Australia can feel cheated by the Umpire's clearly wrong LBW decision at the end of the third test.

Then again Australia should not of wasted there review they have been terrible using there reviews in this series saying that how the umpire did not give stokes out is a mystery was plum.

Nice to see England achieve a draw over the series though it does mean that Australia hold on to the Ashes.

Keeping this as a general cricket thread, England have just started the first of two tests in New Zealand, coming off the back of a 3-2 win in the T20 series (the deciding game settled through a super over of course).
England team: Burns, Sibley, Denly, Root, Stokes, Pope, Buttler, S Curran, Archer, Leach, Broad
England batting first. The test is the first to be played at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. It's the 9th ground in New Zealand to stage a test match and the 120th overall.
England starting well. 14-0 so far.

Good first day for England. 241-4 at the close. 50s for Burns, Denly and Stokes, who was still there at the end. Buttler and Curran still to come too. Could we see a rare 1st innings score of over 400 by England?

England make a slightly disappointing 353, with Stokes top scoring with 91. Still on top though with NZ 144-4 at the close.

Poor day for England, taking just two wickets as Watling's unbeaten century puts NZ in front. 394-6 at the close.

Draw nailed on boring and slow test match pitch flat nothing in it really for the bowlers saying that England about 100 runs short first innings of what they should of got
