Our batting is just poor, some of the shot choices on a day when the sun was shining and the pitch was flat, and we still cant get to 300 at home!

The West Indies win by 4 wickets after being set 200 to win. England really lost it in the 1st innings once again, not making enough runs when it was absolutely essential.
Not counting the one-off test against Ireland last summer, this is the fifth series in a row in which England have lost the opening test, and the eighth time in the last 10 series.

Could Buttler not be picked for his batting? Could he field elsewhere?

Could Buttler not be picked for his batting? Could he field elsewhere? Yeah suppose he could but he's not done much with the bat for ages fantastic one day player not sure about a test player.

The best wicketkeeper in the country is Sarah Taylor but she's retired.

Denly dropped for the 2nd test, Anderson and Wood rested. Sam Curran and Ollie Robinson are in the 13-man squad. Joe Root will return to the side and Stuart Broad will surely play.

Jofra Archer won't play in the 2nd test after it emerged he breached the bio-secure protocols by going home after the 1st Test. He must now self-isolate for 5 days and pass 2 Covid tests before he is allowed to play in the final test next week.
England aren't making any changes to the squad announced yesterday, meaning the pace attack will be completely different from the 1st Test, with Broad, Woakes, Sam Curran and Robinson to choose from.

West Indies win the toss and will bowl. They've named an unchanged team.
For England, Denly, Archer, Anderson and Wood are out, with Root, Broad, Woakes and Curran coming in.

Pleased with the changes, whether it will bear fruit is another matter.

A pretty good day for England, recovering from an early wobble to reach 207-3 at the close, with Sibley and Stokes putting on an unbeaten hundred for the 4th wicket. England still don't seem to have found the right balance between playing to stay in and playing to score runs but it's still better than playing stupid shots and being bowled out for less than 200.

England firmly in control after day 2. Sibley and Stokes reached their centuries, though things were a bit pedestrian again with Sibley's hundred the fifth slowest for England in a test in the last 30 years. England pressed the accelerator later on with some useful knocks further down the order and declared on 469-9.
Sam Curran struck a blow late on getting Campbell lbw after a review and would've had Joseph too if he'd reviewed it. The Windies closed on 32-1.

Can we bowl them out cheaply is the next question, after a couple of good batting performances? Some of the fielding from the Windies has been atrocious!

England have struggled to take wickets for most of the day but the new ball has made a huge difference, with Broad taking 3 quick wickets to leave the Windies 252-7, needing 270 to avoid the follow-on.

West Indies avoid the follow-on with 2 wickets remaining. Next plan for England is to get the last 2, then try and score as many as they can in as short a time as possible.

Windies all out for 287, England lead by 182 and have just over half an hour tonight to try and pile on the runs before they try and take 10 wickets tomorrow.

England 37-2 at the close with Stokes and Root at the crease. They'll try and get the lead to 300 as quickly as they can tomorrow to give them as much time as possible to bowl the West Indies out.

An excellent morning for England to give them a great chance of levelling the series. Stokes hit a quickfire 78 as England added 92 in just 11 overs before declaring on 129-3, setting the Windies a target of 312.
England got 3 quick wickets before lunch to leave the West Indies 25-3.
