Yes it's scary. I like to remind people that Brit Pop was around 25 years after the end of the Beatles, which seemed like ages ago, and now its over 25 years since the start of Brit Pop
It just messes with your head.

Agreed.
It's the early eighties ones that get me. About the same amount of time now since Come on Eileen was number one, as there was since the end of World War 2 when Come On Eileen was number one.

I do wonder if in 30 years time anyone could name what was number 1 in 2019. I couldn't name you a single #1 song from 2018 and i listen to atleast 20 hours a week, do my current chart and listen to 20-30 new releases every week. I have 4 gigs lines up in the next few month, will be watching Glasto next week, take part in every Haven music quiz/competition. The quality of new releases in 2019 is high, 99% won't make the chart though, we live in a weird time for music

Probably not, but I'd say that's more to do with the decline of chart following than anything else - 1989 isn't really seen as a stellar year in UK charts (thanks to SAW domination) but there's still several #1's I could easily name.

Yes, even my teenage kids who are into their music would struggle to name what is number one at any one time. There just isn't the interest level in the charts, sadly.

The thing that makes me sad about getting old .... Both #Morrissey & #10YearsWithoutMichaelJackson trended in the top ten on Twitter today. Both have proven their worth as two of the greatest songwriters of all time. Both have proven they are icons whose songs will live on for eternity. .... And both have also proven to be terrible people.
