I went to see Yesterday last night. Thoroughly enjoyable for several reasons:-
1. Reiterates how strong the Beatles' songs are. Some very nice arrangements.
2. I like Richard Curtis' rom-coms. This one is gentler than some of the others, and rolls along charmingly.
3. Danny Boyle's direction is assured. The film flies by. And Boyle has coaxed excellent performances from Himesh Patel and Lily James.
4. Ed Sheeran is a welcome presence. Unlike many musicians playing cameos, he doesn't ham things up too much, and he comes across well.
My only negative was the unnecessarily heavy-handed demolition of the venal L.A.-based music industry, which was more excruciating than it was funny.
8/10 and recommended.
Anyone else seen it ?
