Anyone watching this? Not entirely sure the right person went there? Think they were worried the kid might have thrown a tantrum? To come bottom in the technical and then do a showstopper that wasn't cooked and not go out is most bizarre! They are all so young, or am I getting old? No dont answer that...

Jamie (the one who survived) did reasonably well in the technical challenge whereas Dan (the one who went) didn't. His cake was raw in the middle. I find the suggestion that Jamie survived because of his age (something that has been claimed elsewhere as well) rather patronising.
Unlike most years, there wasn't anyone yesterday I took an instant dislike to. Maybe that will happen in the coming weeks!

It seemed clear to me that Dan was going to be the one to get the chop, so not at all surprised by the outcome.
Some of those showstoppers were really... show-stopping. For episode one at least.

Anyone watch last night?
I actually thought Jamie may have scraped through by the skin of his teeth again. Very clear overall winner this week though, can't remember a time when it's been so clear cut across the three challenges.

It looked inevitable that Jamie would go this week. His showstopper tasted good (apparently), but looked a bit basic. He was surely last in the signature and 11th out of 12 in the technical. Sadly, he never really got his act together.

Sandi Toksvig is to leave The Great British Bake Off after three years.
The presenter said she wanted to focus on other work commitments. "As my waistline will testify, Bake Off is an all-consuming show," Toksvig tweeted.
"Bake Off is a wonderful programme which has already proved it can happily withstand a change of hosting personnel," she added.
Her co-host Noel Fielding said he would miss her, but knew "we were lucky to have her for 3 amazing years".
Toksvig will still appear on the next series of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer, broadcast in the spring.

Sandi and Noel were a great team so it’s sad to see her go.

I was a bit sceptical when Sandi and Noel were announced but I was sold after the first episode - particularly on Sandi. (I still think Prue is the real weak link as a replacement for Mary Berry).
I wasn’t expecting her to leave, so that is a pity.
I really hope the Emma Bunton replacement rumours are not true. My personal preference would be to see Jo Brand move up from the spin off show.

I don't really watch this any more but I too quite liked the Sandi and Noel team when I saw it.

I can see him working very well with Noel.
