After years of negotiations and some near misses it has just been confirmed that Diana Ross is to perform in the Sunday Afternoon Legends slot at Glastonbury 2020.
More news to follow.

It would be good news, but I was nowhere near lucky enough to get a ticket... yet again!

Three major record labels have been offering Diana an album contract for a number of years now however the breaker in all cases was that she had to agree to do world tour dates which she wouldn't commit to. However she finally agreed to do UK dates and these will take place late 2020/ early 2021 as the album should be ready by then. That'll be 15 years since her last one. Mark Ronson is producing a couple of tracks. Good news for Andy as he will be able to get tickets he didn't for Glastonbury. ............

Isn't she like 80 or something? Does she really need the money that badly, new album and world tour, just why...Enjoy your old age before you pop your clogs falling off a stage!

Maybe she likes spending her 70s touring and releasing albums?

Well at least she will have no trouble to reach out and touch somebody's hand at the festival..... She might be 75 years old, but at least she has not turned into the live embarrassment that Madonna now is, as she can still hold a tune, despite being like 77 year old Paul McCartney having the band & backing singers do most of the heavy lifting:
& from August 2019:

I actually have a lot of respect for her for doing this at her age! Not a fan of hers but seeing her at Glasto would have been quite something. Probably not a headliner most people who hoovered up all the tickets in record time will have been expecting though!

To tie in with her Glasto appearance Diana will be doing a UK Tour of the following venues: 30 June 2020 – First Direct Arena, Leeds 1 July 2020 – M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool 3 July 2020 – Manchester Arena, Manchester 4 July 2020 – The SSE Hydro, Glasgow 6 July 2020 – Arena Birmingham, Birmingham 8 July 2020 – The O2, London More dates could follow. Those are very big venues. Seeing as she has been out of the UK public eye for over a decade it will be interesting to see how ticket sales go. Of those for me Birmingham has the best atmosphere. Still one of those should be somewhere near o.

This is quite big news. I had assumed she had retired seeing as she'd been quiet for so long.
Does this mean there is still hope for Tina Turner to perform again?

This is quite big news. I had assumed she had retired seeing as she'd been quiet for so long. Does this mean there is still hope for Tina Turner to perform again? She's been doing lots of concerts in the US over the last few years at smaller venues plus 3 or 4 Las Vegas Residencies.

Interesting..... Lionel Richie will be in the UK at the same time as Diana next year and the unthinkable is not impossible.
Also possible Nile Rodgers who is working with her on the new album will be at Glastonbury.

Unfortunately it's hardly likely Glastonbury will survive this year.

Unfortunately it's hardly likely Glastonbury will survive this year. That is still sometime away, and fingers crossed the UK Government spooked everybody enough on Tuesday sending the public into "Corporal Jones mode" that we don't suffer anywhere near as badly as Italy are suffering right now.
Still "I don't want to start any Blasphemous Rumours but" if Glastonbury Festival is cancelled then you could argue it would be proof that God's got a sick sense of humour" as Ms Ross' debut solo single after leaving the Supremes was called "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)" which is most definitely not recommended right now.

Now looking almost certain the UK tour dates will be "postponed".

Now looking almost certain the UK tour dates will be "postponed". Based on what ? "We're in the middle beginning of a Chain Reaction". 77 more cases & 4 more deaths in the UK over the last 24 hours due to Covid-19; and that is dwarfed by most our our European neighbours.
