Peter Wright beats Michael van Gerwen in the final. No-one had either player, which means no-one wins and the whole thing was a waste of time! Happy New Year!! I had one of the semi-finalists, though (Gerwyn Price) - did anyone have the other?

Turning this into a generic darts thread now.
It was revealed today that BDO champion Wayne Warren received just £23,000 for winning at the weekend - the lowest winner's prize since 1989. I felt before the tournament it could be the last BDO World Championship and nothing I've seen has changed my mind.
With the rules now relaxed on BDO players being able to enter the PDC Q School, many of those who played at the O2 last week are having a go at getting onto the PDC tour, including most of the top female players as well.
The respective UK and Overseas Q Schools start tomorrow with 3 tour cards up for grabs each day, plus additional places via the Order of Merit. The latter is how triple BDO champion Glen Durrant qualified for the PDC and he ended up ranked 22 at the end of the season - a remarkable achievement, given the rankings are based on the last two years.
Notable names taking part in Q School:
Seigo Asada (reached the last 32 of this year's World Championship) Lisa Ashton (4-time Women's World Champion, came within one victory of earning a PDC tour card last year) Keane Barry (BDO World Youth champion, who also participated in this year's PDC World Championship) Richie Burnett (BDO World Champion in 1995) Mark Dudbridge (PDC World Championship finalist in 2005) Darryl Fitton (former BDO semi-finalist) Andrew Gilding (former UK Open semi-finalist) Beau Greaves (16-year-old who reached the BDO Women's semi-finals this year) Robbie Green (former BDO semi-finalist) Corrine Hammond (Women's World Championship runner-up in 2017) Wesley Harms (ranked no.1 in the BDO before this year's championship) Deta Hedman (3-time Women's World Championship finalist) Christian Kist (BDO champion in 2012) Nico Kurz (reached last 32 of this year's PDC Championship) Peter Manley (3-time PDC finalist) Scott Mitchell (BDO champion in 2015) Paul Nicholson (former ranking winner-turned-commentator and pundit) Alan Norris (BDO runner-up in 2014) John O'Shea (BDO World Masters champion) Tony O'Shea (3-time BDO finalist) Kevin Painter (PDC finalist in 2004) John Part (BDO champion in 1994, PDC champion 2003 and 2008) Fallon Sherrock (reached last 32 of this year's PDC Championship) Mikuru Suzuki (Women's World champion in 2019 and 2020) Justin van Tergouw (2-time BDO World Youth champion) Scott Waites (2-time BDO champion and only BDO player to win the Grand Slam of Darts) Wayne Warren (newly crowned BDO champion) Jim Williams (runner-up in this year's BDO Championship) Lorraine Winstanley (Women's World Championship finalist in 2019)

After qualifying school takes place (this Thursday to Sunday) to gain one of the 33 PDC cards available. A whopping 853 players overall this year have paid the £450 to enter (521 in Wigan, 332 in Germany), compared to 385 for UK QS last year and 268 for the European version.
The 2020 season opener is the PDC Masters between the top 16 ranked players (over the course of two years, hence no Glen Durrant who started from scratch in the PDC last year):

After 4 Days of the PDC Qualifying School. The following players have won a card for two years:
The most notable names being Scott "Scotty Too Hottie" Waites (two-time BDO World Darts Champion 2013 & 2016), & the only BDO player to win the Grand Slam tournament (2010); Andy "The Hammer" Hamilton (former 2012 PDC World Championship runner up); Wesley "Sparky" Harms (Dutch BDO World #1); & Lisa "The Lancashire Rose" Ashton (four-time BDO women's world champion (2014,15,17,18) becoming the first woman player to gain a card via qualifying school).
