In 1976 he managed the unusual feat of scoring all 4 goals in a 2-2 draw (playing for Aston Villa v Leicester City). RIP

This one seemed quite popular with a few users on Buzzjack a few years ago:

France are the first team to beat New Zealand at the World Cup three times. And they came from behind on all 3 occasions.

England, Wales and Australia are in absolute disarray right now but World Rugby's idiotic decision to have the draw 3 years before the tournament means one of those 3 bunches of dimwitted buffoons will probably reach the semis. And 8 years ago these 3 teams were in the 'Pool of Death'.

Congratulations to Spain, and commiserations to England. England's emulation of their manager's homeland in winning the Euros on home soil before finishing runner-up in the World Cup means we are still yet to see a World Cup winning team (of either gender) with a manager that is not a citizen of the respective country. And we are also still awaiting the first Dutch person to win either World Cup as either a player or manager.

Australia 1 England 3 Excellent reult and England are in the World Cup Final (opponents will be Spain). The match is on Sunday morning. This means that the 9 Women's World Cups to date will have had 9 different runners-up. It also means that Germany's achievement of winning both the men's and women's tournaments will no longer be unique.

USA's exit means that this year's final will be the first not to feature either USA or Germany (in fact, every previous final featured exactly one of the two).

- Womens Singles Final - Marketa Vondrousova beats Ons Jabeur in 2 sets 6-4 6-4
I would say one of the shocks to win a Grand Slam, as Vondrousova becomes the 1st unseeded player to win Wimbledon and the 1st to win a Grand Slam since Emma Raducanu in 2021. She continues a long line of successful Czech players to have won a major tournament.
I believe she is the first player of either gender to win a Wimbledon singles title having never previously got further than the 2nd round since Evonne Goolagong in 1971.

Definitely a good show - but strange that the Video Gaga is sometimes on the buzzer, and sometimes in a one-question-per-contestant format.

Another thing - this will be the first final since 1978 where both teams had lost in the group stage.

This means that for the second consecutive FIFA World Cup, the third-place play-off will be between two teams who met in the group stage.

Croatia keep alive their record of always reaching the semi-finals (or better) whenever they have got past the group stage. And this is the 5th consecutive World Cup in which Brazil have been knocked out by the first European team they have faced in the knock-out stage.

Which teams were unbeaten in the group stage apart from us, Netherlands and Morocco? Plus USA and Croatia (who only finished 2nd in their groups).

Groups C and E had surprisingly similar final rounds of group games - in both cases, the teams who started the day top and bottom ended up separated only by goal difference, tying on points for 2nd.
Quirky stat: 100% of matches between Germany and Costa have finished 4-2 to Germany (2006 World Cup is the only previous encounter).
