Hello all and welcome to this thread! I have been wanting to do this for a while now and I have some spare time and all number ones collected on the same list.
Right, let's start with the first song.
The 411 - Dumb
Weeks at number 1: 1 Weeks on chart: 19
The 411 was a short lived girl band from UK. They only released 1 album and 3 singles. Dumb was their biggest hit in UK peaking at number 3. I have always had a soft spot for girl bands and The 411 were no exception! Dumb debuted at number 38 on my chart on September 5th 2004 and and 9 weeks later on November 7th it finally got to number 1 but only for 1 week.

The 411 - Teardrops
Weeks at number 1: 1 Weeks on chart: 18
The 411's third and final single also got to number 1. Unfortunately, it only made to number 23 in UK and album peaking at number 46 set the record straight - it was all over for The 411. Teardrops charted on December 12th 2004 at number 30 and 9 weeks later went to number 1 and stayed on top for 1 week.

702 - Where my girls at?
Weeks at number 1: 3 Weeks on chart: 39
Yes, another girl band! This time from US and managed by Missy Elliott. This is 702's one of the 2 hits on my chart and also one of the first R'n'B songs to top my charts. It failed to become a hit in UK by charting at number 22. It debuted at number 27 in May 1999 on my chart and would spent 18 weeks on chart before finally hitting number 1 for 3 weeks. Apparently, the song was offered to TLC, but they rejected it. Madness! One of the best R'n'B songs ever.

99 souls - Girl is mine (with Destiny's Child & Brandy)
Weeks at number 1: 1 Weeks on chart: 15
Excuse me, can I please talk to you for a minute? Brandy & Monica's The boy is mine was the first R'n'B song that has ever charted on my chart, but missed the top spot by only peaking at number 2, just like in the UK. If I am really honest, I don't remember the Destiny's Child song at all, but I have to admit, it's quite good on its own as well! Mixed together with 99 souls = we have a dance hit in 2015! Number 5 in UK and number 1 on my chart, but just for 1 week.

Aaliyah - Don't know what to tell ya
Weeks at number 1: 1 Weeks on chart: 14
Anybody who follows any kind of entertainment news knows this girl's story. It's a sad one. When I heard about the release of the posthumous album by Aaliyah, I was a bit skeptical and actually upset. I have read many stories about her family and her uncle in particular and those stories made me furious. I made a decision not to buy the album, but when the single was released, I bought it because of the remixes. Don't know what to tell ya failed to make the final cut in 2001 and was released in 2003, making to number 22 in UK and number 1 on my chart for 1 week.

Aaliyah - Miss you
First single taken from I care 4 U compilation that was released in December 2002 and included Aaliyah's previously unreleased material. It managed to chart at number 76 in UK and spent 1 week at number 1 on my chart. I remember being annoyed by Toni Braxton's appearance in the video, the way she smiled while touching her face and hair. Eurgh. THIS IS NOT A HAPPY SONG GURL.
Weeks at number 1: 1 Weeks on chart: 15

Aaliyah - More than a woman
Weeks at number 1: 4 Weeks on chart: 47
More than a woman became the third (or second if you don't think of Try again as the lead single) single from her self-titled album in UK. Ironically, the video was premiered after Rock the boat although it was shot weeks earlier. I have to say it took me by total surprise when it debuted at the top spot in UK (although it wasn't really a tough competition to be honest). Naturally, More than a woman topped my personal chart and stayed on top for 4 consecutive weeks. Brilliant song, one of her finest.

Aaliyah - Rock the boat
Weeks at number 1: 3 Weeks on chart: 52
Yes, another Aaliyah song! I don't think I really listened to anything except her album that year, before it was borrowed by my colleague and he never returned it! Yes, we have Spotify now, but guess what, Aaliyah's music isn't available on Spotify except for her debut album! Argh!
Rock the boat was the final single from her self-titled album. Aaliyah was a big fan of Sade and I think this song sounds like something Sade would record. Smoothing, easy to listen to, pretty sexual even. Everybody knows the story about this video, don't they? Rock the boat charted at number 12 in UK and spent 3 weeks at number 1 on my chart and 52 weeks in total, which is a record for an R'n'B song on my chart.

Aaliyah ft. Timbaland - We need a resolutionWeeks at number 1: 2 Weeks on chart: 41 This is the last Aaliyah song on the list, I promise! This is also Timbaland's first appearance on the list, who produced most of her songs. I think I liked the music video before I liked the song! It's so dark and edgy, and the snakes are just a cherry on top! It only made to number 20 in UK (there was hardly any promotion) and topped my chart for 2 weeks.

Aaliyah - More Than A Woman and Rock The Boat
I wonder how many more songs she would have released that shared titles with but were different to uptempo disco songs from the 1970s if she hadn't died. Hold Back The Night? Don't Take Away The Music?

Adele - Set fire to the rain
Weeks at number 1: 1 Weeks on chart: 8
Could this be the shortest chart run for a number 1 on my chart ever? Possibly. Back in 2011 I was trying to be more objective even about my personal charts and started taking my "airplay" into account as well (by that I mean last.fm statistics as an example) and that week Set the fire to the rain debuted at number 1 with being overplayed in my apartment and my iPod with Adele's other 2 songs still being in top 30. In UK this single peaked at number 11, which is a shame, really! The following weeks there was a big decline in "airplay" as it went 1-7-13-16. Plus, I don't like the official video for the song, it does no justice to it at all!

Adele - Someone like you
Weeks at number 1: 1 Weeks on chart: 16
Adele's first number 1 on my chart. Her Brit Awards performance was honest, raw and absolutely stunning. There was no competition that week. Someone like you debuted at number 1 the following week on my chart (just like in the rest of the world, well, in most countries anyway) with 16 weeks in top 30 in total.

One of these moments when I forgot that H comes before S in the alphabet although the list is organized alphabetically. Didn't think I would need to re-check it. Cannot trust even Word.
Adele - Hello
Weeks at number 1: 4 Weeks on chart: 23
This was the "comeback" single from Adele in 2015 and once again she topped the charts all over the world, my charts - no exception. What can I say, I just had one of the worst break ups in my life earlier that year and Adele released a song that fit in just perfectly. 4 weeks at number 1 and 17 weeks in top 10.

Adele - Water under the bridge
Weeks at number 1: 1 Weeks on chart: 18
This was the 4th and final single from 25. It only managed to scrape into top 40 in UK stopping at number 39, but debuted at number 1 on my chart. Personally, I think it's the most commercial song on the album and could be a hit with right promotion, but with those album sales no wonder this single failed to do better.

Adele - While we were young
Weeks at number 1: 2 Weeks on chart: 21
Second single from 25 debuted at number 1 on my chart once again after her performance at Brit Awards, which made Adele one of a few artists who has debuted straight at number 1 with 5 non-consecutive singles on my chart. It peaked at number 9 in UK the week after Brit Awards took place (I think that's the main reason for its peak).

Agnes - One last time
Weeks at number 1: 3 Weeks on chart: 24
Agnes (Carlsson) is a Swedish pop singer and mostly known in UK as a one hit wonder. One last time wasn't a commercial success, not even in her home country where it peaked at number 33. It wasn't officially released in UK. It spent 3 consecutive weeks at number 1 on my chart and became one of my favourite songs of 2012. If you are not familiar with the song and enjoy ballads, you should definitely check the official video. It's just... too sad.

Agnes - Release me
Weeks at number 1: 1 Weeks on chart: 14
Release me is undeniably Agnes' biggest hit. It peaked at number 3 in UK and number 1 on my chart, but only for one week. Personally I think she is quite underrated, she has put out some brilliant pop singles, Swedish acts have that kind of a tendency.

Agnes Obel - RiversideWeeks at number 1: 2 Weeks on chart: 12 Agnes Caroline Thaarup Obel is a Danish singer, songwriter, and musician (thanks Wikipedia). I first heard this song in 2011 while watching first season of TV series Revenge. It was released a year earlier in Denmark. The song just fit perfectly in the episode and I was blown away by the beauty and simplicity of it. It debuted at number 4 next week and the following week it went to number 1 and topped my chart for 2 weeks. It wasn't released in UK, but peaked at number 2 in Denmark.

Alan Walker - Faded
Weeks at number 1: 2 Weeks on chart: 16
Alan Olav Walker is an English-Norwegian DJ and record producer. Faded is still his biggest hit to date, hitting number 7 in UK and number 1 in many countries all over the world. I was in Berlin visiting a friend when I heard it in a taxi and it was just this moment when memories of certain events start to run through your mind and I could just relate to the song. It debuted at number 1 the following week and stayed on top for 2 weeks. By the way I didn't realize that the video was shot in Estonia until quite recently when I re-watched the video.
