All of our goals and most of the good chances are from players running in behind, Sterling, Foden, Saka and Grealish taking players on, i'm just not sure Kane with his back to goal 40 yards out acting as a playmaker is helping his "being in the right place for people to create chances for him", its a catch 22, players are getting chances this tournament by running in behind, Kane can't run in behind, therefore a striker that can run in behind will get more chances, they will be playing 30 yards further up the pitch for a start, pushing defences back, giving everyone else more space to play in
I'm not a huge fan of strikers dropping back too deep, that takes your striker out of any attack that comes next, defenders push up 30 yards, the opposition midfield and defence become a solid block of 8 defenders and the whole game gets congested, even if a fast striker running in behind comes in and scores no goals he is asking the defenders the questions they don't want to answer, if you asked any opposition defender where they would prefer Kane to play it will be 40 yards from goal, back to goal, it is a tricky one, is the team creating very little for Kane? or are the team creating very little because we are playing a forward like Kane? (can't run in behind, drops too deep, very limited pace, thus taking himself out of attacking positions regularly)

We had a poor mentality against Scotland but as 4 points is almost always enough to get through first group games and we already had 3, we knew a draw would probably suffice, and maybe wanted to be slightly charitable and give them a chance to also quality, so settled for a gentlemen's draw.
Scotland lost to Croatia because the latter are a far stronger team.

Sweden ahead inside 2 minutes against Poland. Morata has a penalty saved against Slovakia.
As it stands: 1. Sweden 7 2. Slovakia 4 3. Spain 3 4. Poland 1
Spain would be through on goal difference, Finland would be out.

Dubravka literally punches one into his own net against Spain. Spain upto 2nd, Slovakia down to 3rd, and would be relying on a heavy defeat for Portugal tonight in order to progress.
1. Sweden 7 2. Spain 5 3. Slovakia 3 4. Poland 1

2-0 Spain, Dubravka playing like David James with a concussion, Slovakia heading home.

My point was you singling out one player when we've just qualified, enjoy the moment as I'm sure we will lose the next game. Rashford has done nothing to warrant replacing Kane, and Calvert-Lewin is even more ineffective from what I've seen. It's a team effort, and I'm hoping Kane comes good, dropping your captain would be detrimental to the team spirit. Good luck to each and every one of them in the next round!

2-0 Spain, Dubravka playing like David James with a concussion, Slovakia heading home. True, but do the defenders want to defend, or let someone cross the ball and head unchallenged, plus the awful ball across the box that started the whole mess off!

Oh, the entire team performance has been awful. It's like they gave up after the first goal. Thoroughly deserve to be out.

So stick with Kane, its a fair talking point, what's to discuss if we cant discuss our starting strikers goal draught in major competitions, might be worth looking at after the Euros, he is 28 so cant build another Euro team around him and well 0 goals in 7 Euro games why would we?

Poland equalise against Sweden and that means Spain go top of the group.
1. Spain 5 (+5) 2. Sweden 5 (+1) 3. Slovakia 3 4. Poland 2
If Poland get a winner against Sweden, they would finish 2nd with Sweden 3rd.

I guess I just dont feel the need to criticise after 2 wins and a draw. We aren't Spain, France, Italy, etc. but yeah drop the captain, and play another player like Rashford or Calvert-Lewin who are also in poor form, makes perfect sense.

As it stands, Ukraine are through unless Poland find a winner against Sweden.

Ukraine now through to the last 16 Portugal will be the final team as long as they don't lose by more than 3 goals. If they lose by more than 3 then Finland will be in. (That's assuming that Germany won't lose to Hungary. If they do then Portugal will be bottom of the group if they lose by any margin because they lost to Germany).
So it's quite weird. We could have a situation where Germany and Portugal both lose, and Portugal's goal-difference is superior to Finland's but Germany's is worse, yet Germany will be 3rd in the group and not qualify and Portugal won't qualify either because they finish 4th.

You have no problem criticising me for having an opinion on it though!, i actually asked a question, it wasn't a statement, I'm sure you read what you want to read, no need to be so pissy, i wont post about football then, is that better? not much point anyway when certain subjects cant be brought up, i posted the same thing on 3 platforms and nobody else had a problem, its a valid discussion
