That was a great night of football only spoiled by Germany equalising! Some very dodgy pens as well.

I guess I just dont feel the need to criticise after 2 wins and a draw. We aren't Spain, France, Italy, etc. but yeah drop the captain, and play another player like Rashford or Calvert-Lewin who are also in poor form, makes perfect sense. You have no problem criticising me for having an opinion on it though!, i actually asked a question, it wasn't a statement, I'm sure you read what you want to read, no need to be so pissy, i wont post about football then, is that better? not much point anyway when certain subjects cant be brought up, i posted the same thing on 3 platforms and nobody else had a problem, its a valid discussion I'm not being pissy, you want to drop Kane and replace him with inferior options, I disagree, does that make it a valid discussion? Now can we focus on England progressing to the next round and Germany? Nobody has stopped you bringing up certain subjects, I just disagree with unneccesary negativity. I'm sure if he plays Kane again and we lose the knives will be out for Southgate, but who would we replace him with?

The latest Elo rankings have England as the highest-rated team in their half of the knockout draw (albeit only 1 point ahead of the Netherlands), with 5 of the teams in the other half of the draw (Belgium, France, Italy, Portugal and Spain) ranked higher.

I pay little attention to the Elo ratings these days. Since FIFA improved its own rankings, I actually prefer them to Elo.

Yeah, my son thinks if we can get past Germany then we should make the final, this is England though! We could beat Germany and lose to Sweden (if they get through)

Sweden have impressed me so far, although I've only watched highlights of their games.
One thing's for sure. Whichever manager loses the England v Germany game will get slaughtered by their country's tabloid media.

Whichever manager loses the England v Germany game will get slaughtered by their country's tabloid media. Well Low is off anyway after this tournament. Germany were going backwards under him until they came up against Portugal's highly suspect defence (which scored Germany's first two goals) the other day. As for Sweden, I thought they were poor in their first two games apart from Isak but looked better against Poland. They seem solid at the back too. Lewandowski made a game of it single handedly in the final group game.
