Diana Ross is making a comeback, aged 77, with her first album of new music in 15 years. “This collection of songs is my gift to you with appreciation and love. I am eternally grateful that I had the opportunity to record this glorious music at this time,” said Ms. Ross. Her new album, “Thank You” is scheduled for release this fall through Decca Records / Universal Music Group. The title track and first single,” Thank You,” will be available for streaming and download on June 17. Recorded in her home studio, “Thank You" offers a powerful, inclusive musical message of love and togetherness. With its songs of happiness, appreciation and joy, it wholeheartedly acknowledges that we are in this all together. Her family, friends and loyal and loving audiences all around the globe have been an integral part of her wonderful life’s story. In this special moment, it is time to step into the light. Ms. Ross co-wrote and collaborated on the 13 songs along with award-winning songwriters and producers including: Jack Antonoff (Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey), Tayla Parx (Beyonce), Freddie Wexler (Ariana Grande), Jimmy Napes (Sam Smith), Amy Wadge (Kylie Minogue, Ed Sheeran), Prince Charlez (Rihanna), Troy Miller, Triangle Park, Spike Stent, Neff-U, Fred White, and Nathanial Ledgewick. Yes, this has been on the cards for a few years now.
She had offers from 3 major record companies for a new album but the deal breaker in all three was that she had to agree to promote it with a series of concerts world wide which she wasn't prepared to do.
She offered to do a UK tour which was eventually accepted.
Of course this was for 2020 in conjunction with an appearance at Glastonbury (which she was going to do in 2014 but negotiations broke down at the last minute) and she added a few European dates as well.
They had planned to release an album Diana Ross and The London Symphony Orchestra when she came to Glastonbury and they are still intending to go ahead with this.
She is NOT expected to do Glastonbury next year.

In today's climate it's highly unlikely it will be a hit.

OMG - surprisingly it's not out of the question she might make a quick vist to the UK to promote the album when it's released.

Although Kupper has given her a recent run of #1 US Dance hits I prefer the Jax Jones remix here

Yeah I already updated the schedule. Presumably the tracks were pushed back when they delayed the album rubcale

Not having the same impact as Thank You - unfortunate to co-incide with Abba's new tracks.

It's OK on first listen, but not as immediate as 'Thank you.

My best guess would be that Diana Ross would not go forward with he UK Tour next year but she does seem determined to continue with it.
In addition to the arena venues and Lytham St. Annes Festival she has now added a gig at Cardiff Castle on Friday, 10 June.

The chances of any Diana Ross single charting now are slim to nil but at least the first two from the new album were great songs and picked up airplay on Radio 2 which was good exposure for the album.
What the UK needed was a ballad with a strong chorus at this stage which hopefully Radio 2 would have play-listed - this pretty is dull tbh, maybe okay as an album track.
A couple of the ballad tracks sound promising but when you only hear a snippet you can't really tell.
I suspect this was only chosen because her daughter is one of the composers.
The album should never have been held back from its original intended releasse date.
