Welcome to Frank Edwin's 9/5/2021 Salad Bar Top 100 weekly inclusive feast where we invite you to Chow Down on a fresh variety of tasty musical artist cuisine. Romaine Calm - Turnip the Beet - Find Inner Peas.
The Top 100 has just a small sampling of the artists worldwide that have music we enjoy sharing. We literally can't keep up with the number of new songs released weekly and new to us artists we are discovering on a daily basis from a plethora of sources. There are currently over 200 songs waiting to join the buffet. To facilitate the opportunity of having more songs join the chart we are now giving five songs each week the special designation of #1 Salad🥗Song.
How do you celebrate the birthday of someone special when you're a musician? You write and record a personal song for them and invite the world to dance with you in celebration. That is exactly what singer/songwriter Tavo Alcoser has done as a gift for his favourite dance partner; his Momma Maria. Lettuce groove as we bring the fiesta and "María de la Luz" the pinnacle of the Top 100 feast in its 16th week on the chart giving Tavo his first #1 Salad🥗Song.
#1 Salad🥗Song: Gustavo (Tavo) Alcoser, Jr. - "María de la Luz"
“Pride,” celebrates the rainbow of people who make up the LGBTQ community and their stories of hope, perseverance, triumph, and love”, reads the introduction to the video for a poignant song from Tom Goss. It is a pleasure to present him with our Salad🥗Bowl in honour of “Pride” being given the designation of a #1 Salad🥗Song in its 10th week on the chart.
He continues:
““When we think of Pride, we often think of tens of thousands of people marching in a parade, but it’s much more than that; it’s the individuals, the love they share, and the moments together that make up the mosaic that is Pride as we know it today. That’s what this song is about.
The idea for the song was sparked by a cross-country road trip my husband and I took last summer. We stayed in rural areas, ate sandwiches in our car and kept to ourselves, with one exception, We stopped off in Reading, Pennsylvania to visit our friend Ben, who had recently lost his partner Rich.
Rich and Ben were cornerstones in their local LGBTQ community, working hard to make Reading a loving, welcoming and tight-knit city for all. Upon Rich’s death, the city hosted a rainbow flag raising & memorial service in front of City Hall in his honor.
Their story inspired me to think about all of the other people who have fought tirelessly to make being gay something to be celebrated. People like Rich and Ben, living and loving quietly but heroically in small cities and towns across the country. The world may never know their names, but that doesn’t make their stories any less important.
I hope ‘Pride’ and its music video encourage people in the community to stop and reflect on how we got to where we are today. We owe so much to our forefathers and mothers. We cannot begin to imagine the hardships they endured, and that’s by design. They wouldn’t allow it. They wanted a better world for us, so they created it for us.
It’s important that we pay homage to and respect those that fought for us and continue the fight for the generations to follow. That is Pride.”

Kat & the Hurricane are back at the pinnacle of the Salad Bar🥗Top 100 with “Out Of My Mind” in its 12th week on the chart. Kat says about the song, “I was going through a rough time with, I don’t know, just having s*** hit the fan. And it was a time in my life where I was not going to therapy or, you know, properly medicated.”
Hannah host of the QueerSounds podcast had the following to say about the Fab 3:
"Formed in Madison, Wisconsin, Kat and the Hurricane bring you every gender and every genre in their fun and heartfelt pop music. Mostly influenced by 80’s synth wave and midwest emo this trio writes about their own mental health issues, dating, and, of course, their gender identity.
In an interview with Sam Jones for Madison Magazine Kat shared, “We are no stranger to questions, criticisms, or suggestions to drop the openly queer aspect of our band — at least as far as our public-facing brand goes. When we say we make “sad lesbian music” or that we play queer music, we’re not only saying that because we’re queer trans people writing music about our experiences as queer trans individuals, but also because we all remember what it was like growing up and not seeing real-life examples of successful or happy queer trans people, much less queer trans musicians — or all-queer, all-trans bands.
Being able to see yourself represented in other successful, happy, accepted, celebrated people, whether [in] the media, your local community, or in the music industry is so, so important. Much like we looked up to queer artists growing up (e.g. Tegan and Sara or Now, Now), we know that other aspiring queer musicians may also be looking to us in the same way.”

We learned about Kristian Veech from the Country Queer website where they shared
:
“Kristian Veech is a Nashville singer-songwriter from Upstate New York. His style is diverse but primarily leans into Pop Country. Sonically, his production style is crisp & reflective of his time spent at Berklee, though his songwriting is more reminiscent of Binghamton. It is a unique, regional style of writing that feels as much empowered by the likes of Ed Sheeran as The Eagles. Lyrically, it is his plain style of storytelling that draws focus- especially on his new song “Running.” The story centers around the struggles of a “small town king” in a rural high school who holds hands with the homecoming queen while quietly pining for a pretty boy in the band. The small town is always running him down and he is always running from his own truth.”
We are delighted to give “Running” the distinction of a #1 Salad🥗Song in its 10th week on the chart.

South London's self-proclaimed “dirtbag boyband” Bears In Trees have been with us at the inclusive music table for 16 weeks now with their dish “Fresh Concrete” a single from their double A-side “Flowers In Concrete.” This week we place a cherry tomato on top and give it the special designation as a #1 Salad🥗Song.
“‘Fresh Concrete’ is about a crisis of self,” shared vocalist and bass player Iain Gillespie. “Trying not to resent the person you are but realising you have to work to be the person you want to be, and trying to understand the endless pursuit of happiness isn’t the answer. It’s also about finding peace with the fact that happiness isn’t a permanent state, and healing is a journey, with ups and downs a given.”
