I hope the action picks up soon as I am at the point of giving up on it. How much nonstop action was there in the first season of GofT? This is only 2 eps in, and we have the mysterious crabster and dragons flying in to stop bloodshed. I'm enjoying the build up to the fragmentation that is surely coming. Disappointed no dwarves or eunochs so far though...

Was 'action' even what made GoT the phenomenon that it was? In the early series there were plenty of battles totally skipped over, only for the show to pick them up from the aftermath. If the show was swamped with action sequences like Marvel, Transformers, Star Wars, it would be all the worse for it. Give me the suspense, political conniving, inter-family scheming, cut-throat dialogue and dark humour over 'action' every time.

Yep I remember it famously not showing the huge battles during Rob's campaign and it didn't suffer at all. I love the intrigue. GoT was never a huge action show when it launched, though that's what it's probably become known as now by those with short memories!

What's the point of having a dragon and not using it, a bit like keeping your top player on the bench

Are dragons like a nuclear weapon? A deterrent?

How good was Daemon's big move this week?!

Episode 3 was definitely an upping of the ante, but still very much feels like we're in an 'intro' phase and barely even warming up to what's to come. I can't work out how many series they're hoping to get out of it, but at this pace they could really give it a good run.

Excellent episode. Loved the final 20 minutes.
However...
the tapestries in King Viserys & Queen Alicent's chambers were a bit much. Someone in the design department got rather carried away.

I'm sure many will have missed that, but it did make my eyebrows rise a tad

Now I'm going to have to rewatch it as I missed that completely.
But yes, great episode!

So far HOTD is killing it over Rings Of Power, I will keep watching both but RoPโs dialogue and acting is just painful.

I thought the Stags looked clumpy and fake, but it was important to the storyline to have them in. Another episode I really enjoyed, but lets ignore the archers not noticing all the boats coming over behind Daemon from their vantage point Another dragon as well? Or just a dragonrider? And I'm glad that character keeps giving great advice to the king, because one day he might take it! A character that doesn't appear to be in it for himself or his family. (Lord Strong) The jump two years annoyed me a little if I'm honest, but glad to move the story on.

Since they announced the two sets of actors playing all the younger (and not yet born!) characters, I've made my peace with the time jumps. But I'll be sorry to see these younger versions go as they're doing a good job.

I was a bit miffed at how they introduced Laenor as a dragon rider but it will definitely prop up more as the story goes on. He was mentioned more from characters in Kings Landing than he was shown at the Stepstones in this episode.

Just watched ep 4..
I enjoyed the first three episodes a lot, but this one is the first time Iโve confidently felt itโs on a parr with GoT. Really excellent and well thought out. Superbly written (almost in entirety), expertly edited and for the most part great performances.
The time jumping is still somewhat jarring, and the way theyโre having characters tell us how much time has passed between episodes is a little clumsy though
