This starts tomorrow in Beijing, though some preliminaries have been taking place during the week.
Gracenote's Virtual Medal Table predicts 3 medals for Great Britain: 2 gold and 1 silver. The golds come from snowboarder Charlotte Bankes, who previously competed for France but switched to GB (her parents are British and she was born here before moving to France at the age of 4) after the last Winter Olympics and is the current world snowboard-cross champion, and the mixed doubles curling pair of Jen Dodds and Bruce Mouat. The men's curling team, led by Mouat, is predicted to win silver.
Some other British names to look out for are slalom skier Dave Ryding, who recently became the first British skier to win a World Cup event; Eve Muirhead, who is skip of the women's curling team for the fourth Games in a row; Izzy Atkin who will be hoping to win a slopestyle medal in freestyke skiing for the second games in a row and is joined in the squad by younger sister Zoe, herself a World Championship halfpipe medallist. Laura Deas is looking for a second medal in the women's skeleton - an event in which GB has won a medal in every Games since it was introduced in 2002. Cornelius Kersten and Ellia Smeding will become GB's first representatives in long-track speed skating since 1992. Montell Douglas becomes the first British woman to compete at both the Summer and Winter Olympics, joining Mica McNeill in the two-woman bobsleigh.

SNOWBOARDINGSnowboard Cross (W) 1. Lindsey Jacobellis (United States) Good to see her win and finally get the gold .
It was also good to re-watch back that chaotic race she threw the gold back in 2006 with Ed Leigh's legendary commentary.

Meanwhile, the medals from the team figure skating still haven't been presented. It's believed one of the Russian skaters has failed a doping test, either at or before the Games.
