Fog On The Tyne has just hit my 1990 playlist. Gazza mentioned sausage rolls in the chart long before Ladbaby. Got one place lower though. However Ladbaby never played in the World Cup.
It's actually not as bad as I remembered it being at the time, and it survived the first round 'cut' that hit a number of songs on that playlist.

Chris Waddle's music career didn't end with his songs with Glenn Hoddle. Whilst at Marseille, in 1991, he did this with team-mate Basile Boli:
Maybe that's why Graham Taylor stopped picking him for England...

John McEnroe and Pat Cash did a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Rock And Roll" with some other musicians (billed as Full Metal Rackets), but John McEnroe and Pat Cash didn't sing on it - they played guitars on it. The singer on that hit with Roger Daltrey so actually it sound rather good.
It was done for charity as part of the Rock Aid Armenia project.

Vinnie Jones - Big Bad Leroy Brown
This is from 2002 not sure how he blagged onto TOTP when it didn't chart as far as I can see.

Never heard of that Vinnie Jones cover. The original reached NM #18 in 1973. Did he rename the title because the original is "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" and that's what he's singing too.

It's possible it may have been recorded for TOTP in advance before it was released but not used until it was pulled out of the archive for TOTP2. I wasn't aware of that track - I do remember seeing him do a version of Wooly Bully a few years before that.

The most successful sports star to cross over is probably French Open tennis winner Yannick Noah. He's released around 12 studio albums, most of which are on Spotify.

A wannabe professional footballer who failed and became a rock star instead was Rod Stewart.

Here's one you won't know ... Former Zimbabwe fast bowler Henry Olonga has released an album plus a few singles. He tried to revive his music career recently by appearing on "The Voice" Australia, but wasn't successful. The clips on youtube are worth watching though.
