Which singer/group deserved to get a title "All-time # 1 act" ?

For impact Beatles but personally Madonna, I listen to her more than any of the acts on this list but I’ve never been a huge fan of mega acts I prefer to be a bit left field.

Agree with TheThorne, The Beatles are probably the most important/influential pop music act of all time. I pretty much never choose to listen to them though. Just not my thing. Out of the options I'm more into Madonna or Michael Jackson.

Objectively speaking, it has to be the Beatles. But they're not even in contention for a top 50 place in my personal favourite acts of all time.

Beatles too. Without them music doesn't head into such an interesting and creative direction
The others are good but apart from Elvis none really created a movement. They just perfected what was already around
The two guys from Abba are absolute music genius though

The Beatles, without a doubt.
I do like their music, but my personal favourites on the list are MJ and Abba. A few songs apart, I'm not a fan of Elvis or Madonna.

In contemporary music, i.e. rock and pop, then yes the Beatles.
When you say "all time" though and just "music" then you have to bring Mozart into the picture.

I mean if we're talking all-time then alongside Mozart we should also mention the likes of Léonin and whoever it was who first worked out that if you bore holes in a hollow stick or bit of bone and cover some of them while blowing in it makes different noises...

It's hard to pick just one as you could make an argument for any one of those.

Personally there would have been no beatles without Elvis Presley so i went Elvis and there would have been no Elvis without those before who influenced him, and possibly Bill Haley who popularised "Rock & Roll" as such. Every musical artist had former influences and just before Mozart there was Haydn etc. who was brilliant but Mozart went on and did what he did better, and some would say Beethoven did it better still (regarding symphonies, etc), but others would disagree. And for operas, possibly Rossini or Verdi outdid Mozart. Mozart was only 14 years older than Beethoven so their careers overlapped - Beethoven was 21 when Mozart died aged 35. Whilst none of them were the first, I'd say in classical music Mozart is the main pioneer and in contemporary pop music the Beatles are.

It has to be The Beatles, there cannot be even a scintilla of doubt about that. Look at popular music in 1961, all Bobby Vee and Frank bloody Ifield, and then look at 1971, with glam, metal, reggae, soul, anything, all in the mainstream because of the slate-wiping of The Beatles showing what was possible.

Very deserved win for Beatles.
Sadly from five "any other singer/group" voters only one person named his/her option. It could be interesting to know their nominee.
I voted for Elvis, but honestly it was very hard choice between him and Beatles.
