The hardest round so far for me. I'm not really a fan of many of the 21st century 2-piece rock bands, and they were a rarity in the more distant past. I have a few options though.

Yeah I'd say the 2 piece round is the most niche round, had to slip one in there to make it a challenge and well everyone is massivly restricted, I can think of a few that aren't full on rawk, they might straddle pop rock and hip hop rock so as there aren't a great deal of bands here I will accept 2 piece bands if they cross over losely into rock, I can think of atleast two I've seen live

I assume it's a two-piece band even if other musicians may have occasionally worked on their albums or performed live with them. I have one particular two-piece band I will definitely use for this, I just have to decide which song. Yeah two piece bands can have a live band help them or a session musician that isn't in the band, as long as there were only officially 2 people in the band when the selected song was released its fine

ROUND 9: Death To All But Metal: Metal is a hugely diverse genre with a lot of accessible sub genres from Glam Metal, Nu Metal, Alt Metal, Hair Metal, Industrial Metal, Rap/Funk Metal, Retro Metal, this round unleash your inner metal head Probably the most requested round after Rock Idol 1, and as the regular rounds usually all quite understandably gravitate towards radio friendly chart music we thought we are due a metal round, a round both me and Hupin came up with separately and merged together to form this idea

The duo round never specifies 21st century.
I generally found that heavy metal got played on the radio in the chart countdowns and on specific rock shows but not in general.

No I think Shirebligger was just pointing out it was quite a big thing in the 00s lots of garage and indie rock bands some were huge, sone influential some just cult but I can list of about 6 straight of my head.

In general yes but Radio 1 even today still has at least one metal song regularly on the daytime playlist sometimes very heavy. But for me it was MTV2 that really got me more into metal, before that I liked the odd song and sometimes listened to Tommy Vance I have two front runners in my head but will make a list during lunch hehe

Yes! I was hoping there would be a metal round here for it!

My scoring is going to be based on a combination of:
- How much I like the song - Whether it's actually rock - Whether it's a song we've seen in these contests before, or is too obvious a choice.
I was going to consider if it "fits" into the category but on that I'll say if it's in it does.
Will we have pleasant surprises? Will there be a pre-predicta of what will show up?

I'm going to vote on how much I like the song and that's it.

Oh so for once your chart positions aren’t going to be a factor and you will judge them against each other rather than where a song was placed against completely different songs.

People can vote how they like, no predicta unless somebody wants to run one. I think they've been a bit overdone and interest in them has dwindled

I'm going to vote on how much I like the song and that's it. That's why people continue to succeed playing the obvious ones. My chart is usually a guide but yes because it was up against different songs it's often the case that one that did worse on the chart is better than one that did better at a different time.

ROUND 10 - Why Has It Got To Be So Loud?: In this round enter acoustic versions of rock songs by either the original artist or a cover, you decide? Every now and again a band re-records an album or re-releases a hit but as an acoustic version, sometimes bands do acoustic covers on Live Lounge or Spotify sessions, hell even MTV did a whole Unplugged concept, it doesn't have to be just one man with an acoustic guitar to qualify

I am really struggling to find stuff for these latest rounds, I'm not familiar with a lot of stuff,I might have to reconsider unless I go for the bleeding obvious.

There are lots of lists on the internet, pick a theme and google it and you will get a bunch of bands or songs, for one round I found 150 options just from one site.

Just takes a little research, just search "band you like" and "acoustic", cant go wrong for this one, don't listen to EP, if you enter the obvious in a few rounds its nothing he doesn't do in 90% of music competitions, its not a niche/hidden song contest, we need some populor songs!

ive had a good look and so far found at least 2 options for each catorgory. i think you can overthink on a lot of these catorgories and sometimes the blindingly obvious is there somewhere. Just think who or what you like and go outside of it and you will find the stuff
plenty of rock genres as dazz has said even that last metal round has genres within genres.
I never realised there were so many names for metal like Industrial and prog and hair.
i wont play to win. ill just find something i like the sound of.

Rounds 8 and 9, I had songs come to mind straight away. Round 10 is the hardest one for me so far.
