How often do you use the highest mark (for sample - 10 out of 10) in personal music rankings of songs/albums ?

The only time I ever think about songs with this mind frame is when playing various games here on Haven - and I think I may have scored a song a 10 maybe once or twice. I tend to max out at 9 or maybe 9.5 usually.
But I don't use any real metric even then. It tends to be my gut feeling at that time on that day.

Yeah, likewise I don't really think about songs on a scale from 1 to 10 outside of rating contests on here. That said, when I do rate songs I tend to dish 10s out like sweeties I get very enthusiastic about songs when I discover or rediscover them (and then often go years without ever playing them again)

I'm normally very generous with my ratings and probably all of my top 100 songs from any year would score 10/10 (maybe more!). It's very rare I give less than a 5 though.

Well this year in the indie music section I've reviewed a dozen albums which contain 138 songs and only 1 of them got a 10 from me, a lot of 9.5's though for ones i love but to get a 10 it has to be special

Being a fan of music I'm more likely to use the 10 very often, for a perfect song, than a zero, as there is not that much music that I really hate. I love your ratings system for songs that you posted on the Eurovision board last year. It's exactly as I would describe a song for each of the numbers in a ratings list. Here it is again ... My rate system for songs :
10 - Masterpiece 9 - Iconic 8 - Wonderful 7 - Very good 6 - Good 5 - Average 4 - Forgettable 3 - Weak 2 - Bad 1 - Very bad 0 - Awful

A 10 to me is a song that regardless of where or when I hear it, I have to listen to the whole thing. Like, if I'm in a shop and a song comes on and I stand in the aisles for 3 minutes until it finishes before I leave, it's a 10 for sure There are quite a few songs I'd do that with though!

Id say I have had maybe 3 10/10 songs so far this year and maybe 2 albums which are pretty close to 10s. Generally if a song gets top 3 in my chart its a 9/10 sometimes higher

I'm a lot stricter with albums - I don't score them by averaging out the ratings for the songs, but they would lose points not just if there were any weaker tracks but if the whole thing didn't flow together cohesively. So far I have 3 9/10 albums from 2022 but no 10s.
Probably have at least 5 10/10 songs from this year though. I'll give it to any song that I really love that I know I'll come back to again and again.

It's often relative, but in the decade rates, if a song reached NM #1 it's generally a 10, also possibly if it reached #2 but was one of the hits of the year.
Difficult to judge on the lower end, because as time went on the standards of bad got worse and worse.

It also gets harder when you compare a bands discography , ‘Something Loud’ by Jimmy Eat World is one of my songs of the year so far and it was number one for ages but is it a 10/10, well it’s not if you compare it to ‘Sweetness’ or ‘Work’ and it’s a stretch to say it’s better than ‘Bleed American’ or even ‘The Middle’ although it has a case. 10/10 can mean different things against everything else out in July it was a 10 but as a Jimmy Eat World song it’s maybe a 8.5/10

Yes, it's similar for me with 'The Lightning'; I adore it but would I give it a 10 when other options on the table include 'Rebellion (Lies)'? Probably not.
Incidentally 'Funeral' is absolutely a 10/10 album for me, one of the few.

When I was rating the Bat Out Of Hell album I was just scoring them out of 3.. So if a song gets just one less than the top score, what would that mean?

I don't have 10/10 album, because there are not any album, where every track could reach # 1 in weekly "Gražios Dainos". Even greatest hits albums of my all-time favourites have some weak tracks.

No that is a rare thing, but a 10/10 album doesn't have to be that good as long as every track is a 8/10 or better with a few 10s then that’s enough and no total duffers with the exception of weird hidden tracks or instrumentals.
